Hey guys.. I noticed these "social groups" being talked about around the forum and found that there is no Hurricane 550 group.... so as much as I don't really see the purpose (lol) I went ahead and created one for us.

well... I guess the answer to your question depends on the person..I don't need to upgrade my Hurri at this time... will I upgrade it at some point... yes.. and the upgrades will be metal grips.. CNC parts on the head.. maybe a Z30..
can the Hurri be made on par with the Trex600... well.. if using the right motor and gearing, yes, it can be close.
as far as using 8s, 10s or more... no need, but if I NEEDED to go that high, I'd get a E620 because it's made for packs that big...right tool for the job and all that crap...
seriously though.. the Hurri is more heli than I know what to do with right now.. bit sure is FUN.. and that's all that really matters

umm.. ok.. don't see it in the social group..and it would be a better question for the FORUM instead of the social group.. only because not everyone will look at the social group several times a day like they do with the forums

Come on Mystic....we;re all so nuts we check this damn thing 1500 times a day and click on anything that looks NEW.....
You could post something next to the hemorroid comercial and one of us freaks would see it and respond.....we've given advice on kids, how to have kids, sacrifices, old age, marital problems.....we're like freaking Dear Abby.....
If I didn't know better...i would think at times it's a bunch of Old ladies talking in a knitting circle.....
Now...if you want real good responses.....then step up and start you own thread....
Your not a "Man's Man" until you have your very own thread....and don't forget to post a picture of your ugly mugs in the stand up and be seen thread....preferably with your heli....flying or not.

lol... I have started several threads.. and I wear a kilt... real men wear kilts :D but my point is still valid... we check this 550 forum like our lives depended on it (hmm maybe they do).. but from what I have seen, MOST social groups get very little activity

Iguess I am dumb...what is meant by the Social group ? I thought it was just another tangent thread going nowhere.....isit really to be social ?:FThat
i don't want to be Social....I want to talk Helis......and/or beat up on JB and Wazzer.....hawk must still be in the coma or has passed on.....:dontknow

well... if ya go back to the first post in this thread and click the link.. it'll take you to the 550 social group... helifreak has the ability to have social groups.. and then members can join it and have a sort of mini forum.. I have one for home brewing helifreaks...there are lots of them out there.. even one for south eastern freaks

Who cares what its purpose is for? it's another place to represent the 550 on the forum.
Has anyone noticed all the other groups in there, why should our beloved 550's be left out?

We could keep the social talk over there and more of the techno/build threads here.. or we could do what we always do and hijack our threads here into sillydom. I say all the above!

lol, you're the most "social" person on this forum! When was the last time you talked about a heli anyway? ;)

oh trust me.. I wasn't saying NOT to have a social group...of course we need to represent the 550 all over the place :D but I know that MOST social groups struggle to keep things active... so I say keep things going here like normal.. and post in the social group when ya feel like it..

i dunno about that mike.i overheard my gran today talking to my aunt saying some idiot that insisting he was a computer programmer kept on posting on a knitting forum she follows asking for advice on which way to hold the needles because he keeps on stabbing himself with them, then some wool supplier from tehran hadn't sent him the right wool and now refuses to answer his emails.apparently they haven't heard from him for three days tho after he posted an sos because he'd accidently knitted himself on to a ventilation shaft on top of a roof and needed someone to come and save him.........sounds kinda familiar:bad:bad:rolling

My original question was trying to determine how far you would go to upgrade your Hurri and can it be upgraded enough to be able to keep up with birds like the T600E.. I know the 600 is a .50 size and the hurri is .30 size..
I guess I am trying to determine if it's really worth it to upgrade or just buy a better quality bird and be done.. In other words.. How super bad can we make this bird?

It only takes money.....and you can make it as wild as you want....
I have not owned a Trex 600 and bigger is always better, just a matter of taste and what you want... the 500 is basically a good design and only needs some minor mods to fly well...but if your going to get insane 3d then the costs go up....
You need to do some research on both forums and try to decide what you want from the heli and how much you want to spend.
Maybe some other will chime in...or else start a thread and ask your question there, it will get more exposure.

I've done it!:thumbup: At least the guys at the field last night thought it had way more power than a 600E.
CFS kit with all the Gaui CNC upgrades, plus a CNC tail case from HeliDirect. I've got the Scorpion HK3026-1400 motor geared 19/68 w/ a 20T OWB. The rest of the setup is in the signature. Think about it, a well setup 550 has nearly the same power at 1/2 the weight.

and when ya get a hurricane swinging blades at 2500 rpm... yeah... INSANE performance for INSANE 3D.. as powerful or more so than a 600.. as it's been said, it's all a mater of money and what YOU want to heli to handle like. I personally don't think I need a head speed over 2000.. in fact I geared mine to keep it around 1800-1900rpm.. and can got lower with a few clicks on the TC
