my stratus is on the way and i was just wanting some info on the c spec engine ...does it do the job or for brute power do i need the cline and viper mod...the money is no problem.. just want some info and is it the pumped c spec or the ringed c spec that gets the cline mod??...Is it a pain in the A$$ to get tuned and stay tune without the mod,???.... and is the mod worth the money ....i see the ys giveing lots of power too but seams more aggresive flying is done with the os c spec...what would be a better choice for the stratus....please any help with chooseing an engine would be a big help for me...thanks everyone...

You said the 'key words', money is no problem. The cline modded motor is set it a forget it and tons of power.

which engine are the mods being done to the pumped version or the ringed version....i guess there is no comparison to power on the moded OS and the ys???

The new machine is lighter than a Extreme, so a 91 c spec with pump would have plenty of power if the correct break in on the engine was ran.But if you can afford the mods,I'd do that.I'm looking forward to stepping up.There is a topic on the mods in the main forum.

i have a std 91 cspec in my stratus and Fury extreme, and they are Awesome.. nice power... on my fury i have a mp2 with it that has good power and the stratus has the SB-16 muffler and that thing is ballistic...
i would like to have to omi modded carby with the pump to try it... but the std cspec's will do me :D
Good luck with the new machine,

I have both a standard cspec in a temptest and a kline modded cspec in a stratus.
I love both of them. They run sweet, I never have to touch them and they have enough power for me to destroy any maneouvre I attempt ;-)
The only thing I did was change the rear bearing to a 10-ball steel caged bearing. I found the standard bearing was only lasting about 5-8 tanks.

I have the C spec pumper in my Stratus and MP2 along with the third needle for the carb. I also have a Cline Viper head, MP2 in my Extreme. I really can't say the the Cline is that much better with the same pipes on them. I would defenitely get the third needle if you go with the C spec pumper. I had to adjust it to get the mid range right. Now it is right on and flying awesome.

anyone know of anything to look out for on the stratus when building???..
Wild Man,
The Stratus documentation that comes with the kit is on CD - Carey did an excellent job of providing detailed step-by-step information along with detailed photos to help. Make sure you follow each step closely - the details are there for a reason. In the meantime, I would suggest you download the Stratus manual from MA and get familiar with the building process to help you along. Here is the link:

Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks for the link...one step ahead of ya  ...i built the spectra G at the first part of the year and am looking forward to a great stratus kit....most all went well with the spectra with just a few errors ...my cd had build instuctions for the tempest head...for most that wouldnt have been a problem...but i didnt catch it and though i got the wrong head parts....Tim got me squard away......its amazing just to look at...what a machine...the stratus will be anouther work of art as well as a hell of a flying machine too....fingers crossed that i can tune the c spec and have a good break in during the cold months ahead...
