I saw somewhere a 'bent' aluminum battery tray but I've not been able to find it anywhere since; anyone know how makes and sells these? This battery strapping stuffs only is a pain in the butt!

Happy Flying!

even with a nice battery tray... you still NEED to strap the packs in...Velcro is great, but I don't trust it to be the only thing making sure my heli has power...

Good point - I use the Readyheli battery trays with velcro on them and the batteries PLUS 2 small velcro straps through the holes on the battery trays and around each battery PLUS an Align 600 battery strap around both batteries - these suckers aren't moving :smokin:

$25, phew, not cheap but not too many alternatives so it seems...

They work very nicely - the thinner part goes inside the frame, the wider bit on the outside and they then clamp together onto the frame very securely.

Just ordered one, batteries shifting around in flight are never a good thing! And yes of course you have to use straps as well, BUT now your double secured...

Thanks and Happy Flying!

I've often wondered if they'd work on the CF frame.. only because it give a much wider base for the packs and has holes for the straps. if not.. oh well.. I can still mount 2 packs side by side on the cf frame

I just made my trays out of aircraft plywood and glued the Velcro on. Very simple and inexpensive. I still use the Velcro straps, but I can mount my packs with no problems.

industrial strength velcro sticks to about anything... I use it on my heli for my rx pack and main packs... as well as receiver.. I also zip tie my receiver in... just to make sure. my main pack are also held in my velcro straps.

I ahve been tempted at times to get a few rolls of industrial velcro and put the hook part on a wall.. the loop (soft) part on clothes for my kids and stick them to the wall when they're annoying me

they'd like it though

Yup, there is nothing special about those trays/plates. It's simple to make them or something similar out of just about anything. I'm surprised that they can charge so much for them for what they are lol.

Now now.. some people don't like to manufacture their own plates and parts.
You know it sometimes takes a couple tries to get it right and even then it can look funky.

I don't want to put some hacked up plates I made on my bird so I spent the $$.

I made a tray for my scale build T-Rex 450 (Heliartist 500D fuse) and cracked it in just general use. Made another and now I'm more careful about how I put batteries on and off and of course thicker material would work but carbon fiber would be a lot nicer and a bit lighter then the hobby ply I was using. One of the reasons I bought these, not cheap BUT light weight, pre-made and it will really secure the batteries.

Always fun to manufacture stuffs too, when I have the time (which is seldom).

Happy Flying!

JE heheh.. i understand man. It's just a plate sandwich though and besides, nobody will see if once it's covered with velcro and the batteries are on there. JB could even custom craft one made of silver or pink. :YeaBaby:
