Has anybody upgraded to G4 from G3.5 using the same PC/Laptop excluding Macs.??
I would like to know what you noticed. I have 3.5 and I find the helis nervous!!! I used the G4 at a LHS and the thing was tight and not as all over the place. I was able to do so much more on G4. The PC was capable of a lot more I think than my Laptop. The FPS was much higher also on G4.
Any how, any feed back would be appreciated as I would like to get G4.

I have the G4 but it was not an upgrade. It runs great but the most annoying "feature" is that its not compatible with G3 online versions. You cannot join G3 hosts with the G4! G4 should be backwardly compatible at least, but no...

OK, perhaps upgrading was a bad term. Lets say flat out purchased a new version and kept the old one. I would like to get a warm and fuzzy on the differences. I have never used it to host or be a host and doubt if I ever will.

Got it. Performance in G4 at a given graphic setting really depends on the field you fly at big time. Normally I fly the evergreen airport and get 320fps, other air ports can see up to a 200fps drop!
I'm forcing 2x Anisotropic filtering and 4x Antialaising using the Nivida control panel. Runs great on my machine but I'm on my desktop that I built for online gaming. Flying online is a kick as well!

I like it more than G3.5. I have the same machine and video card, Nvidia 7600 and Athalon 3500 and found I get better frame rates with G4. Most people seem to get worse frame rates I got the oppisite.
I have no problems but I notice frame rates to change alot depending on the field you fly.

jschief,
what are 'normal' FMS for you on both 3.5 and 4, if you can remember them..!!
I did noticed some fields are worst than others, but then again I can disable a few trees in and there etc. to improve things. But honestly I just fool around, I am not concern with which field I use as long as it does not bog things down too much.
