View Full Version : Looking for a good (even smaller) compliment to a trex 450

I'm looking for something I can fly in the garage in bad weather or when I don't have time to mess with the trex. I'd like something that is cheap and durable or easy/cheap to fix and flies as much as possible like the trex, but that's the lowest priority, after the others.
Suggestions?

Gaui 200.
yup gaui 200, I fly mine in the garage when it's windy, or in the small backyard when the weather is nice.
Another option is walkera 4#3b, it's a handful but tiny enough to zoom around in small rooms :)

The Gaui does look pretty cool. Probably a bit out of my budget at the moment since the wife is already freaking about the cost of the trexx. :rolling

4#3B then, cheap and easy to crash, hard to break :)

I'm having trouble finding that particular model. Do you happen to have a link to somewhere it's being sold?

Well a week later and I still can't decide. I want something that doesn't exist and I don't appear to be able to compromise. LOL
I want the size of the walkera but with collective pitch rotors. ;)
The Gaui is a bit more than I wanted to spend and I don't see much benefit of it over the trex I've already got. It's a bit smaller, but not smaller enough probably.
The walkera is nice, but I want to invert.
Picky picky picky.
I was looking at the ELE firefox 100 as a possibility....

What Walkera model? Man, the Gaui is like half the size of a 450. It's pretty small!

Yeah Gaui is small compared to the trex... Trex 450 & Gaui 200:

And Walkera 4#3B is micro compared to the Gaui:

I hear ya. Still seems a little big to fly in a one car garage at my skill level, which was my goal.

When I first got the Gaui, I didn't think I could either, was going to be a hover orientaion practice little thing for the garage/backyard, didn't think figure 8's in the garage would be possible for my level. But after about a month of the Gaui, I was able to do just that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bnHhA94K8M
and some more 200 vids:

Then after getting used to the Gaui, I got the 4#3b, and in about a week I was able to fly figure 8's foward, sideways, backwards etc:

If the goal is flying in the garage, I think 4#3B is the way to go, it takes a bit to get used to the handling, but is really a nice thing to fly in small spaces indoors... perfect for a garage. Gaui is really fun in the garage, but really much better with a bit more room.

I made such improvement this weekend I think I can probably control the 200 in the garage, or at least the yard now.
But, now I've got my eye on a TREX 600. I need to find a rich mistress.
