after rebuild, went out for an early test hover this a.m. before work, but...............
my belt cp has a slow drift to the rear and to the left. everything is level and balanced. trim helps but not enough to make drift stop..im hoping someone has a fix..........:dontknow

If you have a stock Belt, it will be tail heavy, which could account for the rear drift, and with a level swash, the push of the tail will move her to the left too [when viewed from behind]. My swash has a little right tilt to compensate for the tail thrust, and being a modified Belt, my cg is virtually spot on, otherwise I would give a little fwd tilt to the swadh too.
Check your cg: with the flybar exactly 90 degrees to the fuselage/boom, balance the flybar either side on your fingers and see which way the heli tilts [battery included!!!]. Before I did a mod, I had a 2cm foam spacer pushing the batt fwd, AND a bit od plasticene in the nose too to get the cg right - it meant I had to have a Trex canopy cos the Belt one was too small.

Hope this helps,

Hasta luego!!!!!!!!

Edit: What he said.

Beat me by three full minutes while I was typing :)

Mika is right - far better to be meticulous in your setup, than correct it with the trims. Sure, use the trims to get her steady, but then adjust the setup accordingly so you then have zero on the trims again; having an absolutely level swashplate is not a requirement!!!

I had to move my battery forward about 1/2 inch to get the heli balanced right. That battery is about 70% of the weight of the entire helicopter when it's in the air. It's very important where you position it.

Move battery foward a bit... this is normal.

Left Drift is something you have to get used to during liftoff... if your swash is level once your airborn the drift will stop.... on every helicopter dont care what brand, during liftoff the heli will always want to move to the left, in time you will automatically compensate with right cyclic as your taking off and it will become second nature..

This is why RADDS School of flight sucks for Collective pitch heli's using his method of scooting around will just drive you crazy becuase of the constant drift to the left as it gets light on the skids.

Trimming to the right will help you a bit on takeoff but again once your airborn that right trim will make the bird always drift to the right... and thats not what you want.

AGain left drift only happens as you take off, once your airborne it wount have that tendency.

cg was way off. moved bat foreward and still had to ad 2 1/4 oz weights but no more hover problems....again, thank to all

I beg to disagree. Try doing 3D on a not perfectly levelled swash and watch where your heli will go..

Age old argument i've been battling with these guys.

if they wanna run that way let them be i say... i know my swash is dead flat and i wount have it any other way... worst thing i hate seeing is my trims off center :)

Trimming eats up servo travel, dont care if you use trim or subtrim a servo can only travel so far and any use of trims or subtrims eats it up.....

Set up your heli mechanically perfect is what i say... Guess this is why i wasnt in a rush to get a computer TX.

Wow... i thought the left drift was constant. What if my heli continues to drift to the left and the swash is level? Is this an issue with the flybars?

Just had to smile D. I'm afraid I've come around to your way of thinking. Having flown both ways I do prefer a "spot on" mechanical setup. It really makes it easier to hover in other orientations when you're not fussing with trim settings or "riding a stick" to compensate for a constant drift or rudder.

Yes i would check your flybar paddles to make sure they were absolutely flat.

if your in the house heli shouldnt drift anywhere, not forward, backwards or side to side.

Naturally if you lift off and and it moves left and you overcorrect to the right it will continue to go right and visa versa...

But if you get in the air and you you set it in one spot, it should stay put and not go drifting all over the place on its own (naturally winds/distrubance will make the heli move a little in the house) but not to say your always constantly correcting for left drift.

my heli's are set up such that i can look away for a good 5-6 seconds and not worry that its gone amuck because i wasnt tending to the sticks

its like a Plank (plane) if your in horizontal flight in a straight path and all your trims are set and your CG is correct you should be able to not even touch the sticks and have it fly on its own past you or wherever to until your ready to turn it...

if all else fails, get helicommand :)

Is normal that your heli drift left towards back. Is the physics, there are post out there that explains it. Just make sure everything is leveled (is a must) and give a little forward right while lift off, the higher you bring it up the lesser it do the drift thing. Hold the hub (the thing that sits on the highest part of your heli), adjust your Lipo forward and back to balance the weight, then strap it.

Go youtube search for blade and flybar setup, there are plenty.
