Yep, I made it! Actually, it was really stupid. At fault, training skids. I figured I would put them on to practice my low slow FF, what happens? Stupido here didn't put them on well enough. I'm flying around the street in front of my house with one eye on the bird and one on the traffic, over the asphalt of course. One old lady comes hauling ass down the street and if I don't jump out in the middle of the street and risk my butt, my heli is dust. I land and she goes around. I'm enjoying my successful 2 ft. high circuits, big smile, I swing the nose right and as I pass in front of me to the right the training rig falls off the back of the skids and is hanging vertically below the bird only attached in front. The first thing that crosses my mind is Oh Sh*t, land!!! I try to put it down slowly but the skid hits the ground and the bird tips over and...chicken dance. I was too slow on the throttle cut too. Got lucky overall, S-shaped flybar, whacked paddles, tail boom bent, tail shaft bent, stripped gears in tail servo, bent tail linkage. Not bad considering! I think the 4mm feathering shaft held up, looks like main shaft, FB cage and rotorhead is OK, don't know for sure yet. What hurts most is that I really didn't need the training rig, just a big field to fly at. Live and learn. Well Ed, like I told you, I got the first one out of the way! Gotta rebuild and fly soon so I don't panic. Got my 2nd Scorpion motor in the mail today for the silver TRex. Keep telling myself, it's ok, that was supposed to happen. I believe that after years of flying planks, once you learn you don't crash...as much.....gotta keep going. Time for a cold one. :arggg::roll::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::cheers

The first one is always the hardest and now thats out of the way. Build her back up and she'll be fine. Sounds like you need to find a field to fly in. These 500s are too big to fly in populated areas safely. Good luck!

Thanks for the words of sympathy guys, BTW it's only a 450SE V2, but 1 of an almost finished 2!!! I'm not wasting any time. I'm a newb, an old plank guy, but I always loved helis since my Vertibird and the RC one's were always too expensive. I'm making up for lost time! I'm enjoying the hell out of my first real life non-sim slow FF. Worth every wreck. Great threads, let's keep'em goin, seemed like the forums were dying out for a while there!

I am sorry to hear about your crash JEB :( As was metioned the first is the hardest...heck, I still hate crashing my TRex...but since I want to learn 3D I continue to push my learning and my abilities to get better.
The nice thing is you can rebuild and go for more! :YeaBaby:

Not too bad...note what's left of the woodies!!! The third pic is the new silver Rex and last is the Hughes the black one is going into as soon as I rebuild and learn to fly the stupid thing with no chicken dancing.

Anyone know who has this repair kit for a S9650 servo in stock? Looks like it's on B/O from Futaba. That's the last thing I need to get flying again.:(
