Hello guys, I am tunning my OS 32 SZ.... what's is the recommended temperature in the head (next to the glow plug). ???? I do not like to use the fingers in the back plate because it's really hard to tell, so I decided to get a infrared temp gauge. After some 5mins of flight. I check it with the engine running and it says 160F.... is that too much? I read somewhere that less than 210F is ok....

Could anyone tell me???? Thanks...

I am running 100, 74, 60, 74, 100 as recommended in raptortechnique.com
-9, 0, +9
And I tunned the engine by myself, main needle 1.25 oepn turns counter-clockwise, if I open more than that the heli is too rich...... Thanks!!!!

thanks for answering barracuda...

why is mine running really cool????? I guess that is good, but.. can I lean it more as long as it stays below 200F in order to get more punch???? what I find weird is that the main needle is 1.25turns out, I do not think it's a lot,

can I close it even more???? almost to 1 turn as long as it stays below 200F???

if it makes good power, and runs/transitions smooth why mess with it.

well, I have read that leaner, more power you get. So, it would be a good idea to lean it until you reach 200F... wouldn't it????

leaner is more power right until the engine overheats and blows yes.
My point is, if your engine is running fine, and making good power, then don't mess with it.
Do a few full power climbouts and see if it bogs ( lots of smoke and a blubbery sound). If it bogs like that then its too rich, however if it bogs and( the smoke thins out, the engine sounds real high pitched and wants to die) thats too lean.
