For electric conversion if the 700E doesn't show up. Hope it's mod 1.0 as if it's mod 0.7 like the 600, that's a bit weak for high powered E-motors! Heck, you can get 2x mod 1.0 main gears doubled up on the Ion X2!

I think it's 1.25 module gears. For sure strong enough for 12s lipos.

Taipan,

I'm very sure that these are 0.7 mod gears. They are probably a bit wider/stronger than the 600N's though.

I think they should be ok as long as you use a smooth power delivery esc like the Kontonik PowerJazz esc, not a hard/jerky CC esc. Personally, I think that the reason MA went to 2x maingears was because their testers, like Bobby Watts, used CC escs.

Cheers,

I had one in my shop. The main gear is 0.7 mod, 164T and is only 10mm wide. The thing that makes it work is the 20T pinion, which adds to the tooth contact area. I think Jason did a great job designing it.

So the main gear is actually smaller than the Trex600 170 tooth .7mod maingear ?

Thanks for that info Ben.

So, about 2mm wider maingear than the Trex600 (=8mm). This should make it nice and strong. Our HV outrunner setups will probably use a 14-16t pinion (11.7 - 10.3 :1 ratios) so we still should have pretty good tooth contact. I'm pretty sure that MA only uses a 10-12t pinion feeding their 90-100t maingear (depends on ratio wanted) albeit a 1.0 mod gear.

I can hardly wait to see a good electric conversion done on this beast!

Cheers,

I have both gears and yes the 700N is smaller than the 600N but as Dr Ben mentioned, it is wider and 0.7 module. I was quoting 1.25 module from a prototype thread at the time. Sorry about that.
