When I push the stick left or right the servo will obey but then it stays in that position and won't come back to center when I let off the stick. It is being used on combination with a GY401 on a Trex 450. The chopper is new and has never been flown. . .still setting up. Thanks in advance.

If your gyro is in heading hold mode (AVCS) this is normal behavior on the bench. Try switching the gyro to normal mode - you will then see the servo center when the stick is centered.

Yep, in heading hold mode the gyro gives a command to turn and the helicopter, on the bench, does nothing so the gyro holds the turn command patiently waiting for the helicopter to do as it was told.

Pick up the tail and turn it and you will see the servo center, keep moving it and you will see it counter that with pitch in the opposite direction.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry I'm just now responding. The heli seems to hover very predictably for me this way so I don't see any need to change it - I just thought something as wrong - glad to know its okay.

If you need to center the gyro in HH mode, move the rudder fully and quickly back and forth 3 times. It will center.

Do you mean switch between HH and rate 3x quickly?

No. First put the gyro i HH mode, then move the rudder stick on your radio quickly from side to side.
