Picked up the Vapor BNF (no TX) yesterday at the LHS, bound it to my DX7 and had a blast flying it indoors around work. It hovers fairly well and can fly slow or fast and even loop. Very fun for something different.
Looks like the LHS got it early but here is the link anyway.

My LHS has them, too. I got to watch one flutter around the store yesterday.
For something that looks so fragile, it's tough as nails! The pilot was banging into hanging signs, me, the wall, me, the counter, me, the cash register, me, the RC car rack, me....I think you get the picture.
It could do just about everything but an aileron roll (no ailerons, we're thinking about trying wing warping like the old biplanes).

I seen it on the website, sure looks neat, I had wondered how tuff it really was, I havea small havoc heli if its that tuff then everyone should own one.
it loosk like the wing and all would break as soon as you hit something

i have crashed mine a lot and it is still like the day i got it. my girlfriend has also been flying it and i had to climb a tree to get it out. not so much as a scratch on it.

It's neat, and durable, but when I watch videos of it, it looks like it's sort of planing through the air, and not really flying. I don't like the way it slowly 'flutters' through the air, but it could be a blast to fly.
How does it fly when you have to throttle opened up a little? Does it tracking better, and flutter less?

actually it flies best at around half throttle. when you open it wide up the elevator flexes and it tries to nose down. it has plenty of power i can hang mine on the prop for 10 sec or so and climb out of it. i have been flying it more than anything i own right now even my logo600. i think that is because it is new and can be flown indoors or out.

I just gpt a copy of the Horizon catalog yesterday in the mail, and saw the Vapor BNF. Today it was raining so I went by the lhs and sure enough they had one...... I've been flying outside as there is no wind and this thing is a blast!

I've been flying mine at work with 4 others in a 40'x40' clear area with 12' ceilings. We have pylon races around the support poles, dog fights, and even fly over a full range of cubes. Its also amazing how fast they can fly. With 4 or 5 in the air at one time we end up with some mid air collisions that have result in the replacement of some parts but the LHS is now carrying every part so its been fairly painless and the prices are reasonable. These planes have really caught on.

These planes have really caught on.
For me, this is my first plane, never been too terribly interested in planks as compared to helis. But when I saw this little thing, I just had to have it. I spent a lot of my childhood making balsa rubber band powered planes, hand gliders with bamboo sticks for the frame, and plastic bags for wing covering, and poor storm trooper action figures as test pilots :)
The Vapor hits a few special spots for me.... it looked like something I would have built as a kid, and would have died for. It is small and light, and I am a big sucker for micro things of all types. And it can be slow and agile, making flying in my small living room possible. The combination has my name written all over it, and I would assume for most r/c flying nuts...
Love this little thing!

Hi guys,
I also picked one of the BNF versions up at my LHS friday.
All I can say is I'm very impressed with this little bird.
It is perfect for dusk evening flying after the winds have dropped.
Easy to fly but very responsive. I fly a lot of planks but this one
is gonna be getting a lot of stick time. It is just FUN !!!!
Now If I could just get some lights on it :)
Regards,
Tim

Has anyone tried the Ember? I'm on the fence about whether or not to purchase the Etomic Vapor or the Etomic Ember. From what I've read, the Ember seems a little better for outside use and flies at faster speeds. I'm more interested in flying outside than in, so I'm thinking the Ember would be a better choice! I'm interested in a comparison between the two, from someone that has flown both, as far as flight characteristics and build quality. Thanks, Alex

If you are going to fly outside mostly, the Ember might be best. We fly our Vapors out in front of work on zero wind days in the morning and they still seem to feel some wind. A bit more mass would be better for outside flying but the Vapor is excellent indoors.
