I've got a E-flite Cessna 182 park flyer plank. Flew it last year two times before I stalled on approach to the landing and crashed.
Well, I spent the better part of a day off and on fixing it after ordering new parts and took it out yesterday to fly it. The whole family was with me. Took off and got about 5 feet off the ground when it banked right and nose dived into the asphalt. How humiliating. :arggg:
Don't know if I dumb thumbed it or mechanical failure was the cause but I think I'll stick to helis. :dontknow

Don't give up so easily (even though helis are cooler :) ). At least you didn't dirt nap a 33% Sukhoi electric like I did yesterday . Planks are a good way to get your 'fix' when helis aren't an option. Keep at it.

I have to agree, its only a mild setback. If you can fly a heli I'm sure you can handle a plank. But you have to get used to the controls just like I did. I flew helis for years and believe it or not got to flying planks about 3 years ago. Started on the air hog bi planes and it just took off from there. The best way I learnt was to get something inexpensive like the airhogs and then I went to the friebird commander and that flew away from me on a windy day :O( Then I purchased the firebird phantom and had better luck. And now I got about 5 wings, foamies and a few micros and there really fun to fly. So don't let that one incident get you down. Fix that puppy :O) and if your not good at the controls as of yet get yourself a cheap foamie plane. One that can take a smack and get right up and keep going. Once you get the basics down, you will get better from there. In a 2 channel plane believe it or not its alot of stick management. You have to play with the throttle quite a bit to get high on up or to come down for a landing or turning etc. But once you get the idea you will fly almost anything. Good look and don't give up.
