I have a chance to check out Chris's Ion-X at IRCHA SE. He is sporiting a custom made 106T main gear and he is running a new center bearing block on the actro stack. Chris's heli flew great and seemed to have just as much power as the 95T main setup we are flying now.

Your wlecome. I asked him about hte gear to. Turns out he has to make it by hand nad it takes like 4 hours each. I think it would be cheaper to just go withthe belt setup, although for me since I cut out my frames, I will need to change frame sets first before I can do the block or the belt either one.

the 12s setup is geared 12.1 i can change it to 10.6 or 10.0 in matter of seconds :smokin:
Hopefully the added weight of the 2 stage doesnt hurt performance as you have witnessed Will my 10s TP PROLITES 5s4p5300 set up is very snappy!

Hope to get some video soon. Those 5300's ROCK, good bit more snap than my setup and we are running the same pitch range. The Tanic 8880's rock to. They keep about 80% of their power until about 7 minutes then I can see a very slow decline until I stop at 10. Downside is they are heavy and need some blade to auto good.

Very nice pics. 4 hours isn't long if its hand built. IonX is still a dream machine for me :glasses2:

Hi Tony
We can sell the center support now if you want it. It does require you to take the pinion stack apart to install. I don't know if I really believe that it helps a whole lot, but certainly it will support that stackup better.
I think that ultimately, the belt drive thing is the way to go with the outrunners needing ratios in the 10 to 18:1 kind of range. It does add weight over the single stage gearing method, but the motor is far better supported. Time will tell though if the belt will hold up...this is what we are trying to find out now.

HEHE i will have this thing going by thursday should be a monster wiht the 6s2p4200 TP PROLITES 15C X2 =12s :banana
Chris you need to grab the video camera this is going to be good :smokin: :smokin:
I want a belt drive too ASAP, and some 12S prolites ASAP :-)
Please keep us updated, I will too post my test results when I have tested my 12S setup.
Guess the esc. to use for a 12S setup, except the expensive Schulze one, is the CC 110Amp esc. Read about some problems with the 85A CC esc. but guess the 110A version should be fine.
Thanks!

Hi Paul
Yeah, it seems the HV110 is the way to go, there have been a lot of problems with the HV85.
Bobby, I'm looking forward to it.

Hi Gus,
Been short of time lately...
Belt! Thanks for the pic's Bobby - that thing must sound great. Looking forward to the video.
My HV-110 has been holding up well - it's in the heli I flew at IRCHA - no problems except for a glitch on one of the first few flights which may have been cured with a ferrite ring on the ESC throttle lead. Hope you have the same good luck with yours.
It looks like you're using the original Hacker frames for the belt drive conversion - am I correct?
Glad to see the continuing progress guys - now if only my TP-1010 / TP-210's would show up ...
