I was just in the "Heli-Crack-Zone", my FIRST Nose In Hover today!!! Hell, YEAH! Did it on the 550, it wasn't perfect but it wasn't too bad either. I'd spent several hours practicing on my sim over the last few days and decided it was time to just turn that bugger nose in and give it a shot. I'm sweating like you wouldn't believe at the moment, PHEW!

I think this was a lot easier task on the Gaui then it would have been on my T-Rex 450, not that it's EASY to do mind you, but easier on the more stable 1.1 meter rotor diameter platform. Had a little bit of breeze too making it a bit more of an adventure.

Ok, now I'm coming down from my 'high,' ugh, I need a nap and then another few flights! ;)

Happy Flying!

Congrats! Awesome feeling isnt it?

I made my first nose in landings with my 450 a couple weeks ago. What a great feeling, almost jumped up and down like an old toyota ad. :Bang

Congrats!

What side of Columbus are you on? If you're on the West side, it might not be too far to meet and go flying some time.

Good job! Agree much easier on the Hurry than a 450 and my T500. Not too long ago I had the courage to do the same. Practiced on the sim and apply at the field. I literally spent an entire week 10 flights a day just doing nose in, taking the heli left and right, making a square pattern. You will eventually just put the correct control without thinking about it.

I just crashed my Hurry last week doing pyros while flying inverts. What a bugger! Looks like back to the sim. :arggg: . Flying heli is hard... I flew airplanes for 15 years and this 6 month of heli flying has been pretty tough on my heli and wallet. Basically I manage to crash every other week roughly every 50 flights. 600+ flights in 6 months is just a start :(

Mario Andretti. ... If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough!

VicRC... If I don't crash, I aint pushing it!

Awesome Drew! Congrats. Keep at it and before you know it, it will be as easy as tail-in.

Nice job, Drew!

Ok, you are officially the kick in my pants to push myself a bit. I've started to get very comfortable with the "tail in" version of flying, but need to step it up I think!

Thanks for the nudge!

I spent a retarded amount of time on the simulator flying first the easier to control then the more difficult Helo's and until I could keep them steady I didn't step up to the next version. I've also been practicing my 'fly up hot, nose in at a goofy angle and bring it into the hover' as well; don't make it easy, bring it in smoking and at a weird angle and WORK to get it under control and in the hover as smoothly as possible.

THEN it will be time to do all this for real, right now it's just gentle nose in hovers practice and slow FF and approaches in that orientation.

Thanks for all the congrats guys, now back to the flying practice!

Congrats Drew. Crazy that nervous feeling ain't it. I never knew my fingers could shake and sweat so bad. Now, my knees have started shaking when I get nervous.
