I have a Kong Power charger.
I HAD a CellPro4S charger.
I have 4 CellPro Revolution 3S 2100mah packs that fitted the CellPro.

My CellPro died.

So, now I have a KP charger.

I can't seem to find an adaptor for the KP to charge the CellPro Revolution packs....

I've attached photos of the connectors on the packs. Anyone able to assist?

There is no adapter. Cellpro battery packs use a proprietary connector that no one supports except FMA.

Thats pretty bad news...
How hard is it to change the tabs?

Don't know if the female tabs inside are compatible with any other connectors, but it's really not hard to change them out....you could get connectors form either old usless lipos or order ones you know fit you charger and just connect them out side the pack. cut and solder 1 wire at a time and covr with shrinkwrap & you are good to go...

That's if you feel comfortable soldering things....

If the KP charger has "Align" type connectors then wattsuprc has these http://www.wattsuprc.com.au/product_detail.asp?pid=TAC103 which can be either soldered direct to the battery or spliced into the leads on the battery as Mike suggested. Just be aware that the balance leads are live so only do one at a time.

Read this before you attempt anything http://www.rchelimag.com/pages/howto.php?howto=18&page=1

Eddy

ps Wattsuprc have 4 cell leads as well and also some adapter leads.

OK.. I have located these:
http://rchobbiesandmore.com/product.php?productid=23208&cat=0&page=1

Those look like they will fit my charger with the Align connector bridge. So, my idea is to snip off the current connectors off the FMADirect ones, and replace them with these. My problem is though, that these seem to have different colours from my packs.

The ones in the image go Red, White, Brown, Black. My connectors currently are.. well, different.

On two of my FMADirect supplied pack, I have 5 wires in the connector! Black, White, White, White, Red.

And my other two have 4 wires (One socket has no cable in it). Black, White, White, EMPTY, Red.

Is it just the two outside ones (Red and Black) that must be correct - the rest are just .. 'signall cables?

How would I connect these to the new balance connectors?

Failure!

I found a KP style balance connector from an old pack. It had Blue, Green, Brown and Black. So I looked at the packs current connctions to it's balance tab, and it was Red, White, White, Black. Red and black being on the outsides.

So I soldered the two black together, and then red to the blue (As they were on the outer pins respectivly. The brown and green just went into the middle.

Connected to the charger, and it didn't pick it up as a Lipo. :(

Found this on the CellPro manual..
Helpful, and confirms what I thought - but doesn't explain why my soldering has failed. :arggg:

As I say, my connector that I found goes Blue, Green, Brown, Black.

The pack has Red, white, white, Black.

So I soldered Red to Blue, White to Green, White to Brown and Black to Black.

When I connect it to the charger, it flashes Lipo - 1S, then changes to NiCd....

Any help?

You need a voltmeter....get one, borrow one, steal one,,,,

I have had batteries from the factory miswired.

Black should be negative....then find the wire that with black shows 3.7v, then the one with black that shows 7.4v, then the one with black that shows 11.1v....the last one is the positive...
(11.1v one)

the other two hook up to your whites generally accross the plug.

now your only using a 3s pack and your picture of the plug is for a 4s....so you only use 4 wires and not 5 as on the plug.

what you don't know is if the positive should on the outside....or the next one in for 3s.

Look at the other battery and do the same as above...find the negative, 3.7, 7.4.11.1...and wire the same

You're a hero! Thanks!
I'm off to Bunnings (A local hardware super store) to obtain said voltmeter.. I'm going to take the 'buying' route, as I have only been in Australia 4 months now, and am not aware of how they look upon theft yet. :)
