Finally getting the CH46 kit I have had sitting for the past 18 months completed. Wondering if anyone has suggestions on setup? Using a Tech MP mixer and a Castle Creations speed control with the 2 blade heads. Will be using 2 of the GY240 gyros.

Anyone have a suggestion for the headspeed to target? Are people flying this in governor mode? Other than setting the transmitter for stadard swash and letting the mixer hand the translation to 120 CCPM deg are there any other gotcha points?

Thanks,

Got the CH-46 test flight ready. Had to use the new TH2 mixer that I got for the twinn rexx as DCP seems to be dead on the one I had gotten used. Test flight went well. Definitely handles different than a single rotor copter.

I start with the rotor at 2100 rpm, but seemed to have very little reserve climb out capability. Moved the rotor speed up to 2200 rpm and got a little improvement. Any one else with this model that could provide some input as to the headspeed you run? It was in the upper 80's when I was testing so I would guess that we had a density altitude of close to 9000 ft. That may have had a little to do with the lack of climb, but my Trex and Logo 10 all perform perfectly at these higher temperatures.

Need to finish tidying up the wiring and then getting the fuselage painted and installed. Can't wait to get the twinn rexx under construction.

Was still struggling with very weak climb and rotor speed decaying at high stick. When I was talking to Joe about my TH2 I asked about the CH46 and he suggested trying a 4 cell pack instead of the 3 cell I was using. Added a cell, adjusted the governor for about 2050 rpm and added some more pitch. No more bog and very strong climb now. After hovering 6 minutes the motor is about 125 - 130 deg F on the bell. Seems to be a great improvement.

The issue I am now working out is getting control throws and exponential set. Don't have it flying at what I would consider a stable setup. Takes a lot of moving the sticks and chasing after it to keep it from getting away.

Anyone with one of these, were you able to find a setup that gave a nice stable flight?
