For those of you out there turning 2200+ headspeeds, you might want to consider using better bearings for the OWB shaft and main shaft. Boca Bearing has these:
SMR128C-YZZ AF2 (http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=product&id=4444&n=SMR128C-YZZ%20AF2) for the OWB shaft
SMR688C-YZZ AF2 (http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx?p=product&id=4450&n=SMR688C-YZZ%20AF2) for the main shaft
Mine wore out in about 50 flights and I believe the wear was accelerated by the high headspeeds. In fact, I think the 2nd main gear went so fast because the bearings were shot.

I personally think every bearing in the ship is of the cheapest material possible.....one way they offer the ship so cheap, save wherever thet can.

Every big increase in performance comes at a price of some type. They are all just parts, and wear and tear increases and costs go up when you run them harder. I'm back to running the 13T with the z30 at 90% and that is plenty of HS for what I'm doing. I'm in no hurri (heheh) to self destruct the parts prematurely. If i was sponsored and had other people picking up the tab for parts/repairs, it would be a different story lol.. but i'm on a tight budget. Most of my posts come off as me being cheap, but i've been forced into flying as cheap as possible with these things, or not flying much at all. :)

I understand the fly cheap part... I fly cheap... in fact.. right now I'm being VERY careful with my Hurri.. a crash would ground me for a couple weeks..
In order to increase my heli budget... I just quit smoking...I know it's better for me to not smoke.. but screw that.. I need the cash to buy spares

Fly cheap? When your on "helicrack" you'll feed your dog "roadkill" to save money on dogfood.....the kids can eat Spam!
Here in TN we have a "Roadkill Law" if you hit it with your car....you can eat it...so I guess we kind of have year round Deer hunting season...
Anything to save money to buy another lipo on sale....
Mystic...."Good for you" to stop smoking.....it will extend your life so you can fly till you can't see it anymore.....
What happens when we get real old.....do they have 1:1 size R/C helis?
Or do we have to get so good we buzz around no further than 4 feet away? :badair:

Well I still need an occasional puff on the pipe to keep me going; the Heli-Crack pipe that is!! ;-)
Good for you Mystic, "RC Helo Flying Leads to a Longer Life"!
I've sold off all kinds of "little used stuff" to fund this addiction; a 1961 Gretsch Corvette Guitar, other music gear, bike parts, my wife's diamond earrings are now $29.95 cubic zurconia's (don't mention that to her if you'd be so kind!), etc, etc. Okay, all but the last one, but you get my point... However that's not such a bad idea, hummm...
Happy Flying!

Did you grease your bearings?
No bearing will last if it isn't greased. Get a "The Greaser" from Pete's Hobbies, or ReadyHeli carries them also.

Nope, just took them out of the pack and put them in the heli. Even if I have greased them I don't think they would have held up for long since the stock bearings are not very high quality.

i and probably anyone else of sicilian descent deeply resent the name greaser.and yes for the price of the plane ticket + a small fee i'll come and lube your bearings ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
