Hallo,

do we have a chance to get a build video series of the PROTOS 500 from Bob?

That would be great!!

Reading your thread title, i thought this was an announcement. ;)
But would be great to see what Bob thinks about the Protos 500..
He definitely has seen it up close and flying, and maybe even flown it,
Kevin (Fire-up) owns one.

IMO the Protos kit is certainly at least an intermediate build level. A beginner might not have the experience of what to look out for while building. Because of the parts' close tolerances it is likely necessary to have to loosen the following parts:

_All ball linkages
_Washout block hole for main shaft
_Main gear hole for main shaft

Special care must be taken so the loosening process is done correctly. I hope the proper techniques are displayed in the build videos, and what to look out for.

I don't think Bob is doing a build video for this heli, not that I am aware of. Best to ask the man himself.

I was going to do one but then something I cant explain got in the way. Possibly in the near future I will do one but I have a few others things on my plate right now. I personally would like to do one so lets see if it works out.

Every time this thread gets bumped to the top, I get excited again. Maybe one of these times the title will actually be true. :-)

I am going to rehash WHY that got in the way and see where it goes. Was never really clear to me anyway. I get a few PM's a week asking for this so time to figure out what the deal is. You still willing Corrado?

Sure, no prob here. As i offered in the past, we will give a full kit with electronics for the build.

I think it would best for everybody concerned if you sent the kit to my address, until Bob checks into the situation on his end.

He might not get the chance to do a build video, but I'm sure I can promise the opportunity to do a repair video...

Or, how about: let me build and crash the heli, and Bob can do the CF frame replacement video.

My kid will even take some photos with her camera phone, and we can post those in lieu of Bob's thing...

Hi Bob ... if RChover can help you in anyway to help support you with you build video for the protos let me know this PROTOS is the best performance 500 heli on today's market, it is a unique heli design unlike any other heli on the market, it will be a interesting build for you and all helifreaks alike . and it will help the protos get on the map...this heli should not be over looked...

thanks

That's not a understatement.
Everywhere i fly people are amazed by how it flies and how fast it is.
Just the first Fast Climb out I always hear, Whoho What the ..... :)
That's kinda cool.
I planned to watch the last Dutch 3D contest last weekend, i didn't see much though...
Many guys wanted to see it up-close and asked for details (and that's cool too, met a lot dutch helifreaks ;) ).
It's hot, and not without reason imho.
A Finless build video to support new Protos pilots would indeed be great!

hey eric... I was on the dutch 3d and saw you flying :) its was a great scene. Wat was/is your setup?

Hey! :)
Standard Motor controlled by a Kontronik Jazz 80 with FP Evo25 6S 2500 lipo's on a 15T pinion.
In that flight i was testing a great german lipo btw, SLS 6S 2500 (only 20C! and they even also have 30C ;) ).
It had a amazing low internal resistance on the DUO charger, I had much more Rpm (a bit to much actually) and my protos was tailheavy (40 grams lighter), LOL.
Lipo's are getting better and better.

Well what are you looking into? Protos are very cheap in crashes but! the downfall is there stock plastic frames shatter and the down fall on that is well you need to take apart and redo wire'ing, there is an upgrade of carbonfiber but I'm not to sure how they are in a crash so ull have to do some researching, these things are worth it in the end, so much power, VERY light like logo's with there own plastic frames as well. and good price for the kit :)

(sorry if i missed something, correct me if i did)

thats the reason that has been holding me back from proto. Its not just the frame. When frame go, there is a big chance that your elektronic will go to. I have seen crash pics where esc and resiver was damaged to. they really should give a second kit using carbon frame. let it be 50g heavier :)

True but I have also hurd since the frames break it saves your servos, now if the frame brakes and travels to your electronics I think some how you should find a place to put them ummm maybe under the botom frame? hiding orrr get some of this foam that wraps around recivers so it protects it in crashes, sure it looks a little funny with the foam padding but id rather have that then my reciver going bye bye lol.
