Hi, I have a DX6 and a DX7 that I want to use as a Buddy Box or Trainer to help my dad fly, but there are a few questions that I have before I do it.

Firstly, If the only RX the DX6 can bind to is the AR6000 than will I have to use that one or can I use the other Spektrum RX's like the AR6100e???

How does the Buddy-Box work? Does the controls from the slave controller go through the master before they are sent to the model?

Does the Slave controller have to be bound to the model?

What Trainer cord would work with both the DX6 and 7?.

Thanks for your help.;)

You should be able to buddy box them, as both are really JR radios with Spektrum RF decks.

It can work in various ways depending on the Txes involved. But start by reading the manuals. And if you can't find the manuals, they are available online at Spektrum.

One way for them to work is that the master and slave both have to be programmed to the model. If you want to use DSM2 Rxes, you need the DX7 to be the master, as the master is the one that actually transmits. The master or slave then sends the control into to the master Tx RF deck for transmission. And in this case, each Tx works fully with mixes and programming.

The other way it can work, is for the slave to just send the stick positions to the master, which them does all the mixing and programming stuff. In this case, the slave could be a simple box with sticks and some small amount of circuitry.

I know with the 9303, you can even only give certain controls to the slave, so the student can have only say cyclic, and the master retains collective and throttle.
