hey guys i got a problem here.
I have a raptor 30 V2 with a GY401/9254 and NHP Carbon tail blades.
the gyro doesn't hold well, the engine runs good, im 16mm out on the servo horn and i'm running 95% gain. my travel limit is at around 115 on the gyro, no delay.
im ready to throw this thing out and get the JR 770:arggg:

Are your linkages free of binding and slop? Disconnect the clevis at the servo horn and check for both.

check www.raptortechnique.com and follow STEP by STEP the instructions..... you will not have any trouble after that. I am almost sure you are having trouble with the gain....

followed those directions twice already. i'm thinkin i got a bum unit. im at 16mm out on the servo horn for cryin out loud.

mine is 16mm, but my pot limit is about 105%

I think anything below 100% degrades performance. I know I did have mine at 12mm and it held terrible untill I moved it out and lower my pot limit.

Personally, I look to move the ball in as far as I can and still adjust the limit pot for full travel. When I put a ball further out, I get tail wag.

I was having the same problem on my 30 with the same setup. I had to move the ball all the way out also. It finally settled down and started holding with the gain set at 70-72%. I'm still getting a little wag occasionally.

yeah, but it doesn't hold at 95%

I'm sorry, maybe I'm misunderstanding your first post.

Are you trying/wanting to get the tail to hold at 95% gain? If so, I don't think you will be able to with the ball on the outer most hole of the servo arm.

I was having the same trouble that you are. I also followed raptor technique. I was also thinking that I had a bum gyro(still might). I started at 100% gain, took it in to a hover to see what corrections I had to make with the stick to hold it where I wanted it. If it where right rudder to correct, then I would land, drop gain 5% and kept doing this till I got to a point where I had to correct it with left rudder. Then I would increase gain 1%-2% till it took right rudder to correct, backed it off 1% and it holds, which in my case was about 72%.

Probably not the right way to do things but it seemed to work for me. I still don't feel that I got a totally "locked in tail" like I have read about others. But for now I'm still at the hovering stage anyway. I'll continue to make adjustments until I can get it where I want it. Even at 100% gain and ball on outer most hole of servo arm, my tail didn't "wag" dramatically, but only slightly which leads me to believe that something else is going on with mine.

At any rate, let us know what you find out to resolve this. I would be curious to know. Good luck!

Man, i don't understand, on my craptor 30 my gain is 42% holds like a rock. Ron

i re-did the tail setup on it, now i just need some time and space to fly her and dial her in.

Ron, what gyro are/were you using and where do you have your ball link on your servo arm?

401 and 19mm out. Ron
