Hi again, need a bit of advice setting up the head on my EP200. Here's how I figure it should be done:

1. With servo arms level at mid stick set the swash at 7mm from the frame as per the manual.
2. Get the mixer arms level using the links with the 90 degree bend.
3. Set the blades to 0 degree using the straight links.

If this is correct I'm not convinced the links with the 90 degree bend are quite long enough. Have others found this or have I got something wrong?

Thanks,
Stu.

Hi,

everything is correct except No.2! You don't have to get the mixer arms level on the 200.

Sounds about right Stu... Watch Bobs 450 Videos on CCPM

1 Disconnect all links to the upper swash and get all servo horns horizonal and links vertical to the lower swash... the hole in the horn i used is about 10.5 - 11mm from centre on 306bb, not sure for the Hitecs. Make sure the swash is level and 7mm from the frame at mid stick, you can balance a spare flybar across the swash to check how level it is - Gr4y style.

2 Its now important not to move the stick!!! Connect the flybar to the Mixer Arms (SeeSaw Arms) and connect the longer links between the upper swash and the mixer arms. Adjust these links until the blades are both at approximatey Zero pitch and both are the same length when the flybar is Level... Its not too important if the mixer arms are not perfectly level the small links that go to the flybar can not be altered so your stuck with the orientation of the mixers.

3 Connect the Washout arms to the upper swash and the adjust the final 2 links (these are the ones with a 45 degree bend in them) so they are the same Length... then adjust both of them the same amount untill the flybar paddles are level WHEN the washout arms arms are level.

4 Check the final pitch range at bottom and top stick and that nothing hits the yoke or frame with full cyclic.

5. spool up to about 40% stick and check tracking... alter the swash-mixer arm links to get tracking correct.

You Should then be good to go. I know i made a fuss about this a couple of weeks back, but be clear what are Mixer Arms and What are Washout arms... different people call them different things... Michale is right... Mixer arms do not need to be level , but Washout should or you start getting slight geometry errors and so response difference between normal and inverted flight.

Hi Stu, I found when setting up mine that if I set the swash to 8mm instead of 7mm from frame everything else lined up perfectly at mid stick and 0' pitch, I didn't need to adjust any of the other rods that were factory set except for when tracking the blades which was only one turn on one of the mixer rods, my rod lengths are on pic below.

What throttle and pitch curve are you using with the 8 mm setup?

Hi Dan

In normal
throttle is 0 32.5 60 77.5 88.5 96 100
pitch is 27.5 INH INH 65 INH INH 100

In idle up
throttle is 100 INH INH 80 INH INH 100
pitch is 0 INH INH 65 INH INH 100

Swash mix on aileron, elevator and pitch all 55% gives me -11 to +11

The throttle might seem a little strange in normal but I only flly in idle up(3D) so its purely used for spooling up so when i flick it into idle up it doesn't have such a big jump in head speed.

Hope this helps, Pic's below show how curves look on box, I am using a Jr 9X tx with a spektrum module.

Choppy pilot?

Are your measurements, the length of the exposed metal between the ball links? or are they the total rod length?

Thanks,

Dan

The lengths are the exposed part of the rods.
