the 550 is around the 3kg mark depending on what gear you put in it. Mines a smidge over. HCs is a smidge under i think.

3kg RTF? or the airframe alone?

I am currently flying the A-40 10-L turbine motor, and thus far, is the most effecient, and powerful motor for this heli, on 6s. It is more consistant throughout the pack, and has some serious torque. I love this motor.

I have a Scorpion motor which is a 1380 KV motor, that I will be testing next week. Will let you know what the outcome is.

As far as the hacker. Super hard 3-d, and big flying using all the pitch, The Hacker runs about 100 degrees, and the batteries get no hotter than 115. Usually around 100. This is a serious set up thus far.

could useing 2 3s 2200 packs from their 450 w/ a z20 motor work. only for sport flyin. ive seen a bunch of ppl do this w/ their g550, but then again, that bird is LIGHT. just an idea for those budget flyers.

You will kill a 2200 pack in short order on a z20a powered G550 which is a bit lighter than the Outrage 550 numbers I've seen. Even keeping the flights around 3 minutes will draw too much from such small capacity packs. You could hover, but thats about it.

My G550 is 4.7lbs auw with 6s 3700.

I've got the Neu 1907h 1y motor to try in mine. It's 1400 kv using a 12 tooth pinion..

What's the tooth count on the O550?

Also weight on it looks similar to the Logo500 and I can tell you that 6S 5000 packs on this size machine absolutely rips. I think Outrage is making the right move by going into this size electric.

Guys I must say the Neu 1407 1y motor is freakn insane on this heli. i'm using a 10 and 11 tooth pinion.

using hv 85, and phoenix 125. I'm also using the new outrage 6s 6000mah packs too. I'm getting 6 1/2 to 7 minutes with this setup turning around 2150 headspeed. The motor temps are way cool around 110 degrees and pack is close to the same.

I want to get alot more flights on this setup to get a real "set in stone " opinion. As of now I'm very happy with this setup...

The motor i'am still not sure of.

I got a Scorpion HK-4020-1100 for mine. It's a lot like the Z30-1110, but higher quality and more efficient from reports.

Ok guys

Jody Greer and I flew yesterday. With the NEU 1907- 1Y on the 6s 5000 pack , turning 1960! headspeed we flew 6 minutes of flying putting back 4100 mahs. The zpower setup would only allow for 5 minutes of flying with alot less power!!

1960 headspeed with 6s 6000 mah pack we got 7 1/2 minutes of flying putting back 5800 mah. <g>
What was crazy that the nominal voltage stayed at 22.5 volts. To be safe 7 minutes will be the flying point for the 6000 pack.

The motor temps were average at 108 degrees and battey was 107 to 114 degrees.

I strongly suggest the NEU 1907 1Y motor...

i feel this is the hot setup for this heli. It's way better than the zpower! I "bet" it's even better than that Scorpion. 1960 headspeed!!! Try that with your Scorpion!

Will the Jazz 55 work with that setup? or do you need the Jazz 80?

Thanks

Jazz 55 will not work.

A Jazz 80 may work fine with heat-sink mod and cooler ambient temps. I know people using them on Logo 500 helis, but are on the edge of thermaling quite often. It's really hot here in Texas and decided on the Castle 125 as it can take more heat.

I'm patiently waitng for the release of the Outrage-550 and reports from average users before I decide between the Outrage and the Compass. My biggest concern is not with quality, parts availability, or mechanical performance but rather with necessary minimum cell count required. I know the Outrage folks are marketing this heli as a 6s performance heli but I have to wonder about 6s on a 6-1/2 pound high performance heli???

I know others have questioned 6s verses 8s for this heli on this forum with differing opinions. Sure the perfomance is there with the 6s but how will 6s hold-up with high amp draws required for necessary performance? Other helis similar in weight and performance have already proven to be pack-killers on 6s!

I'm guessing component choices are gonna be crucial in achieving a balance that will not kill 6s prematurely. I hope this new Outrage will work well with 6s as it will make a large heli affordable for many that can't afford the cost of 8s & 10s. Time will tell as with all things.
