List your Outrage 550 setups! It's never to early to start making planes. I'l go first.

Jazz 80 ESC
9252 cyclic servos
9256 on the tail
Solid G Gyro
Motor... undecided
560mm Rototech Mains
92mm tails
6s 5000 Outrage Lipos
Western Robotics BEC High Current
AR7000

I'm kicking around the idea of running an 8s setup on this heli.....

Well if it's a 550 then the Z-Power Z30A should work pretty good but I've no idea what kv the bird is designed around. The Z30A is normally 1150kv. Although they do an 800kv version as well.

I have in my possession:
FASST 8CH Rec
Spartan Gyro
CC HV 80
CC BEC
I am thinking
560 Rotortechs (If Outrage 550s are not available yet)
92 Rotortech tails.
BLS 251
3 BLS 451s (Hope I have the #s right)
Not sure on the power yet. Charley is testing with a Z30 and 6S 5000s

Probably stating the obvious, but the Jazz 80 won't do 8S. Now the Jive 80+ HV...

I've been kicking around what I run on this heli.... Think about this...

Keeping with the spirit of high voltage low amp draw (like the G5) I'm kicking around the idea of using a 10s setup. Now hear me out before you "Jeremy has lost his mind". If I can get a Lipo pack around 700-800 grams and a mah of around 2600-2800 running a 10s setup would really work well. I don't know the gearing on this heli so I can't start matching components, but I think it could be done.... CC85-HV ESC.... Hummmm......

Hummmm......Just to add even more options to the mix, I'm running 10S A123 on my Swift. Pack weight is 775g, 2300mah (and 2000 mah of that is usable, no 80% rule like with lipo). Output voltage under load is ~29 volts.

In my Swift, running a Neu 1910/1.5Y / CC45HV, I get 6 minutes of aggressive sport flying at 1950 rpm on 550 SABs.

Now the bigger question is whether the 10S A123 "brick" configuration will fit in the frames. :)

Would it be allright to use a non HV CC80 esc?

Yes unless you run more than 6s.

Is there any need to run more than 6s on this heli:lol:?

Not if you watch the video's of Henry Caldwell, Steven Fox and Craig Martin, they were all running 6S 5000ma Outrage packs.

I decided on going with a 6s setup for sure. I'm also going to use the ESC the Team Pilots are using (PHX-120) with the Z30-1100 or Scorpion HK-4020-1100 motor.

Getting closer!!! Can't wait. Unloading stuff to make room in my hanger.

could useing 2 3s 2200 packs from their 450 w/ a z20 motor work. only for sport flyin. ive seen a bunch of ppl do this w/ their g550, but then again, that bird is LIGHT. just an idea for those budget flyers.

2x 2200mah pack is going to be a VERY short flight and pushing it in the power dept.

Not worth it due to short flight time, and very short pack life. Your packs will be toast in just a few flights. :(

This is a lot larger machine than the g550 and I am not sure you could get it to CG without adding weight with 2 x 2200mah packs.

anybody have the rtf weight w/ batterys and everything in it?

Ade_Law

the 550 is around the 3kg mark depending on what gear you put in it. Mines a smidge over. HCs is a smidge under i think.

Don't think the 2200 would work well in it, I was told that My 3300 mah batteries were way to light for CoG and I'd need something closer to a 5000 MAh in weight . That and like others have said the batteries would be toast after a few flights.
