so like the title says anyone got a calculator? whats the max rpm a hyper 50 engine can turn a k3d head at 100% throttle?
os max rpm = 20,000
i figure a rough guess under load to be 18500 -1900max under load
k3d gear ratio = 8.7:1:5
if reading that correctly its 8.7 :1 on the main and x5 on tail
so that would =
20k= 2298 headspeed
18.5k=2126 headspeed
19k= 2180 headspeed
therefore meaning that if you can safely turn your head 2300rpm (in theory with CF blades) then you can run 100 straight across the throttle curve and at 0* pitch not over speed your engine or head.

95% of engine is 19k that where that # comes into play so if someone ran an engine at 95% throttle curve flat they should be safe with out ever overreving.
if this is the case that would mean you can just run 95% throttle and never need a governor.

thoughts?

your forgetting the other RPM figure... the rpm at which max power is available. above or below this the power goes down.

OS quote 17k for peak power. most run a little over this so that when you load it the power goes up and stops it bogging further.

why would you do this?

simple to do throttle curves, and do throttle mix., this still better than any normal governor in my opinion. (active governor other story)

what you going to do in fast speed dive.?

i would rather have consistant headspeed, than high headspeed now, then slow later...
