i think its safe to say that:
-the kids have no idea how expensive and powerful these helis are
-the pilots have no idea the dangers of flying: -so close to other helis
-so close to people
-around people with fireworks strapped to the skids
-with skid-mounted fireworks aimed at people
-the spectators don't know how dangerous it is to hold fireworks in their hands, in close proximity to other people

I liked the idea, but they should have found a better place to do it and removed the kids from the area. I was actually thinking about doing this with bottle rockets and roman candles but I couldn't figure out a reliable remote ignition system :P. In all fairness they weren't as safe as they could have been, but the small stuff they were shooting at each other wouldn't really do very much harm to begin with.

It's sober, level headed judgment like this that ruins a hobby for everyone when somebody gets killed and they make the whole hobby illegal for everyone. Of course everyone dreams of doing something like this. Thank God most people have enough common sense and self control not too.

Hobby? Fireworks are illegal almost everywhere...

I guess you meant, it's booze-drinking, firework shooting HOLIDAY's like this that get people hurt. Make illegal the 4th, and New Years & Saint Patricks day for that matter... they only encourage people to overdrink and make dumb decisions.

The pilots obviously were the fathers....... so just like having to rebuild a crashed heli, I'm sure they could just make some more kids if they needed to.....

Think you need to read over some of the homeland security stuff :)

I guess they will stop doing it when the heli faces them by accident one day.

And yes, soon it will ruin the hobby for everyone, just takes one or 2 incidents.
