Hi, does anyone have method for testing out speed controllers & motors. I have a spare controller & motor with the heli a bought & want to see if they really are spares not just knackered bits put in the box with the heli.when I wire them up the motor doesn't respond & the controller gets quite hot.
they are off a T rex 450, Align RCE-BL25G controller & Align brushless 430L outrunner motor. any advice welcome
I don't do electric so I'm a dummy. But, if you have a multimeter you could check the resistance of the windings in the motor. A multimeter is a handy thing to have and you can get a cheap one. Measure the resistance between the 3 wires from the motor, with the motor disconnected. Calling the 3 wires A, B, and C, measure between A-B, A-C, and B-C. You should have the same reading on all 3.
If the motor looks ok then possibly the controller needs to be programmed. Here is a page about that.

The sounds that signal the setup progress come from the motor, and if the motor isn't mounted on anything you might not hear the sound. Maybe you can find a piece of scrap aluminum and mount the motor on that so you can hear the beeps.
