Hi All,

I'm replacing my 770 3D gyro with a Spartan DS760. Can anyone tell me what I should set the gain to? I'm running 2100 rpm and have a DX7 transmitter.

Thanks!:YeaBaby:

I'm using the gear channel on my DX7 for gain and have +48% ATV for heading hold for my Logo 600 at 2150rpm. Shouldn't be too different to your 500.

So many different factors will affect the gain you get on your machine. On my 500 I have a gain setting of 25 if I remember correctly (out of the country so I can't look at the moment.) I am running 95mm radix tail rotors which definately caused me to lower the gain compared to the 92s or even more so than the stock plastics.

Hi All,

Well, I have my Spartan installed and well tested. (I replaced my JR 770 3D) Here are the results:

Gain: 36% which is 68% on my DX7 gyro screen ((68-50)*2)=36%
Gyro end point adjustments: High 85, Low 90
Transmitter expo: 30%
Transmitter end point adjustments: 150 left and right. Even at max (150) the piro rate still isn't as fast as my JR 770 3D.

The improvements over my JR 770 3D are softer stops and no initial wag in nose down funnels.

An odd thing about my installation was that I required 4 clicks of subtrim to get a neutral signal the gyro would recognize. My JR required the same, except that I used three clicks of trim to get it to stop drifting.

My Spektrum must not have the rudder channel well centered. The nice thing about the Spartan is that it gives you two blinks when you're not at neutral and a solid light when you're at neutral. So it was an easy matter to get the sub trim dialed in.

No big deal, but contrary to popular opinion, this is a time when you need to trim a gyro.

Love the new gyro, but the JR was pretty good too.

Keep 'em flying.:YeaBaby:

FWIW easiest way on these DX7s/9303s'... is using the gear channel, than all you have is a heading hold and non heading hold value on one switch. The % stays the same in every mode as well. So much better then the gyro menu crap imho... cheers. :P
