When I first got my Belt CP I made the classic rookie mistake, I flew it indoors straight out of the box . I hit the sofa, and then trying to fix it (didn't know anything about feathering shafts or bent axels) I flew it in the garden and chrased after about 22.4 seconds

So i went and baught a replacement heli, and did it the correct way this time, took my time getting to know the heli, setting it up, reading foras, watching youtube etc.

I flew it on the first battery and I was quite successful, no crash at least! Then the stock servos flipped out and quit on me so I took your advice to upgraded to the TP SG-90 servos, which were a great modification! So precise and quick compared to the stock servos, and so cheap! I also replaced my conrol arm (the plastic oval arm that goes around the blade grips) with a normal linkage arm in steel (thanx to ChappersSP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKZ3XQRwCUw) on youtube).

Since then I have flewn about 4 lipos and I can control the heli quite well, tail-in. I even battled though winds.

But the greatest modification ever I did last night! New Align wodden 315mm blades! On my stock blades the plastic rapping had started to come off!! after only 4-5 lipos and no chrashes  and on top of that I could never get them to track . After a bit of fiddeling to get the align blades in (trimming the inner end so it wont hit the feathering shaft and making small shims (out of the plastic plates from the old blades) to offset that the align blades are thinner than the grips) I mounted them and WOW!!!!!!! they tracked perfectly and I mean PERFECT, without any adjustment :Bang.

I took it out on the parking lot and it was so stable (and I thaught it was stable even before) it is as comparing night and day before and after. It was the most wonderful feeling, to have the heli that precise and quick to respond! The best mod so far! I only flew for about two minutes since it was very late but I can't wait to get out today! I braught it with me to work so I can fly on my lunch break!

The world of RC helis are:clappp!! At least when everything is working and you just pulled off a successful flight!!!

(Other times it is not that great, when looking at your checking account for instance! :o)

Enjoy!

(Thank you all for your help at the forum!)

Congratulations - your second start there sounds like the very model of how to do it right. My experience with the Esky servos and blades is very similar... Just not worth replacing, when there's much better available for almost the same price or even less. Those Align woodies and SG90s make it feel like a totally different helicopter.

Once you're hooked on that sharp and precise cyclic response, the DTS mod and decent dampers ("O-rings" in Esky parts listings) will provide your next dose. It's a bottomless money pit, but it's so worth it when a setup comes together and the helicopter really does what you tell it to :D

The DTS mod is my next step, already been studying different ways of doing it here on the forum and I think I will do with the 90 degree plastic parts on the outside of the frame as one guy had done.

but what do you mean with the dampers or "o-rings". What to do with them?

Changing to better ones makes your cyclic response a little sharper. No, it's not a huge difference, but with all the other modifications you can definitely feel it. The soft rubber o-rings that come with the kit look just like that... regular o-rings instead of real dampers. Any dampers that fit a T-Rex V1 head should be a drop-in fit on the Belt CP.

This one's the one in the Trex compatible parts thread....FS-BLK-V1

http://www.helidirect.com/images//trex-damper.jpg

I was told there stiffer than the stock rubber one's and that's what makes the tracking better. Available from a well know supplier near you hopefully. These were $1.50 so doesn't hurt the copter-funds much either!!

Yep, those are the ones I use. You have to split them down the middle for the Belt CP, so you actually get two pairs for the price :D

Great!

Thanx guys! I will definatly try to find them here in Sweden.

I was out flying yesterday, twice, one time on my lunchbreak and then after charging the battery again on the evening. I flew really good (according to my self ;)) and really getting the hang of forwardflight, 360's and hovering.

I was practising nose in and it was going really good. I was about to quit for the day when I thaugt "just one more time" so I took it up in the air - went nose in - lost control - gave some rudder input - to much - went into spin - CHRASH! :DOH

But noting much broke I think, a new servo gear set and possible a new axle and main gear. Should be up and running when the weekend comes!

Someone once told me crashes are a good excuse to upgrade....!!

:YeaBaby: Yepp!

I got to investigate a bit further yesterday what had happend with my porr little belt. It seems the main shaft is bent, main gear is partially stripped and the gear from one servo is gonners.

I have ordered a new servo as well as a gear set, thaught it would be best to have one servo as spare. And I will order the t-rex 450 mainshaft since I heard it is a direct fit (if you put it in upside down). All I have to do is adjust the servoarms a bit. Right?

Correct. The shaft is a little shorter, so you need to turn the links down a bit to restore your pitch settings. You should also file a flat for the shaft collar's set screw, but many people regard that as optional as long as the screw grips tightly.

Always a good idea to have a spare servo lying around, and the gear sets are available separately so you can usually repair the damaged one while you keep flying with the spare.
