Hey guys. I am looking for opinions here on my E550 motor situation.

I have a brand new TT Ripper OBL 43/11-30H that I had a problem with. I cut the pre-tinned wires off to shorten the length for less voltage drop/neater appearance. After having problems soldering the coated wires and checking with the experts (and expecting a long delay in the situation), I decided not to use it. I bought and have been using a Tonic-X Z30A 1110KV for almost a month now. Seems to work great.

Ace/Thunder Tiger is not willing to replace the OBL but will give me a discount ($60) on a new one if I send the old one in.

My dilemma is I since I already have a motor that's working well for me, should I get the new stock one (assuming I might need it later) or chalk it up as a loss and put that money towards an UPGRADED motor later on when my skills (and need for power) are much greater???

The TT is rated at 1050KV so even if I needed to swap it in for my Tonic-X, I'd actually be losing power with a lower KV motor.

What do the guru's think?

Thanks!

Dave

I went through this as well, there is not really any other option to get more power (other than a neu but probably not worth the $$$).
The best thing to do is get 11T pinion to up the headspeed (helped a lot).
You just have to accept it for what it is, this heli is kinda heavy and feels the least powerfull in my fleet.
The only real way to get more is to go to 8S/10S setup with new motor/ESC,

Thanks helicraze.

Maybe I'll eventually go 8s but for now I'll do all my rapid stuff with my mini-Titan.
