OK, here's something I can't figure out. All of the online resources I can find as well as all of the set ups I have downloaded for my 14MZ ALL say not to set the gyro gain above 37% to 38% in either the AVCS or Normal modes. However, the instructions that come with the 611 show a set up example for the 14MZ of 80% in the AVCS mode and 60% in the Normal mode (page 35). In another place in the manual (pages 24 & 25) the example shows settings of up to 70% in both AVCS and Normal mode.

The word I have seen says that above 37% you risk burning up your tail rotor servo.

So what's the deal?? Why the difference between real word use and recommendation and what is in the manual. The manual is new enough to incorporate 14MZ setups and if the 601 showed problems it could have been reflected in the new manual.

With the 14 what you set in the gyro menu in the TX is what shows up on the gyro readout.

One private response I got mentioned that he runs 80% in hover and 60 to 70% in flight. Not doing 3D, more F3C flying. Seems like a good explanation. All of the set ups I got were 3D and not FAI set ups.

Bill,
The GY gyros will hold very well. They will hold well at 35%-45%. They will
also hold well at 80%-100%.

The biggest difference between the two different settings. At the 80%-100%
setting. The gyro is working the servo all the time. Lots of time it is so
sensitive it is wagging the servo and tail. But you have to listen and watch
close to see it happen.
I fly F3C and I run the gyro in the 40%-50% range with the ball on the servo
at the 16 mm position on a Fury Tempest.

Gain settings are also determined by a few factors.
Tail rotor speed ( Ratio head to tail)
Length and type of tail blades
Mechanical setup of servo and tail linkage

I just always lower the gain till the gyro is just not holding. Then I up
the gain about 10-15% the value showing on menu screen of the gyro.

Has anyone noticed any glitches(or lose of range) w/ the g3 rx and the 601/611 if they are to close to each other?

Oh Ya! My 14Mz is in the shop right now because of range check problems.

When the gyro either 601 or 611 is connected to the RX of my MA99SE and I’m doing a range check antenna installed and collapsed the moving servo usually elevator stops moving at about 15 feet from the heli and the fail-safe kicks in. Then I move a few inches either toward or away from the heli and the servo starts working again. I've got 2 other R5014 showing the same problem. If I disconnect the gyro at the RX everything works fine.

I went to a local heli field talked another 14Mz owner into trying my setup in his transmitter and did the range check with his transmitter, worked flawlessly. He even removed the antenna from his transmitter and my heli still responded to his transmitter where mine would have been in fail-safe mode.

I’ve also tried ferrite clamps, the 55 cm antenna length, and a revolution whip antenna. I'm hoping Futaba will have some answers soon.

See that weird, I had a friend with the same problem. When his 611 was plugged into the g3rx it would glitch when he did his range check, disconnected the 611 and it worked fine. We moved his 611 as far as possible from the rx(as far as the wires on the 611 amp woulld allow) and it worked fine. He even flew it several times after that with no problems. why is this rx so sensitive to rf or anything else for that matter?! What changed from the 1st release of the g3 rx's to the current release?
