I have been getting a few PM questions on the new bird here. So I am sure others had the same questions:
1. Is your helicopter a real Condor?
No. I looked at the advertisement that was released from Century and ordered every part available today including:
- 945mm torque drive tail
- The all metal head yoke
- Industrial 830mm blades
- Super Quiet V2 muffler
(see ad below)
When the real Condor is released I will have to upgrade at least the following to have a "real" Condor:
- Blade grips
- Clutch
2. Those are some nice blades but I would like to run 1000mm or 1200mm blades, would that work?
I doubt it. The blade tips come very close to the 120mm tail rotor blades now. I cannot imagine longer.
(see pic below)
3. What are you using for gearing?
Well the standard gear set is an 88T main and 15T pinion. An 11T pinion appears to be the one you want. Century was nice enough to send me one AFTER I figured out that the default one would never work but... I have not installed it yet. I will let you know.
4. Any clutch issues carrying a load?
No, not as of yet, but I have "only" pulled up 8 pounds a few times. I doubt there will be till after 10-12 lbs. but that is just a guess. A Century rep would be answer that question better than I would.
5. Tuning issues?
No, other than not being able to get the headspeed down. None. I think the new 11T pinion should fix that.

Oh I forgot about this. Yes an 11T pinion is the one you want with 830mm blades. It holds a nice hover at 1250 RPM.

What do ya know about the new tail box?? Is it out? Part number? Any feedback?

Not to my knowledge no. I hear good thing about the clutch but that is not public yet either :(

I see u have the blade tips yellow, I did the same thing on my gas predator but I painted them white. I'm slowly (very slowly) building up a stretched version now and I wanted to experiment with a different color on the blade tips this time. How well does the yellow show up ?
The white shows up pretty fair. There's a glimpse of how it looks in this short clip about 2:45 into the clip. The blades and camera shutter were sync'ed so close in the first part of the clip the blades looked to be nearly stopped. http://www.flyupyours.com/predator/images/firstautos.wmv
I'm wondeing if glo orange tips would show up. Thanks

Well they came with yellow tips and seem to show up pretty well. A newbie at the field told me it looked like the sun going down on a hard banking turn

Curious to how much inches it is from tip to tip of the 830 mainblades. I guess it's called "mainblade span" or something like that. Thanks..

Come on now. 3D condor flight would be very cool to watch. Let HC or Marcus let it loose.

NOOOOO
I have seen H to the C "test" helicopters. I would not have the stomach for it. I thought Freezing Eskimos electric bird was going to bend in half with Henry flying it.

That thing is huge! What is that 6 foot rotor diameter

That condor is huge. I measured my little x-cell gassers mainblblades tip to tip distance and I got only a measly 61 inches. Using little TG690 blades. That condor is a foot longer  . I wish I could afford one of those bad boys. Hey Debian..those blades sure look pricey  .

Hey Debian..those blades sure look pricey
No there are cheap... Only $0.18 a millimeter (http://www.heli-world.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=CN268375&Category_Code=) It is all how you think about these things ;)

Looks better in person. The color is more florescent RED and florescent yellow. The camera has issues with these colors for some reason. It is more this color:

and before someone asks I got the canopy stickers from http://www.hobbies-n-stuff.com/calliegraphics.htm

You got me there :arggg: :arggg:
I was thinking about getting a BowFlex, or a Hoveround scooter
Can't decide
Go for the hoveround Tom, we can rig it with li-poly's. Like a 100s100p would do it. We could make it R/C also, that way HC could take you for a little ride.

100S,100P would be a death machine
That would be 370 volts and at 2100MAH at 20-C would be 37.8 Amp hours, that's
2,268 amps for one minute or 839,160 watt minutes.
Not to mention how many "Foot Lumens" that would be!!
If H to the C were at the controls i would puke ...I have seen him fly!!
I know, that would be the fun of it................Diamond Loop. LOL
