I have experience with both gyros. I have the 401 on my b400 and the 770 on my Hurri 550. I have had a 401 on the 550.

If you are willing to pay the difference, the 770 is a far better gyro. It's not a Spartan, or 611 or Solid G, but it's an order of magnitude better than the 401.

I've heard good things about the 770 from a few sources now.

I've owned several 401's and only one JR 770. The JR beats the pants off a 401. If your just cruising around than a 401 is fine, but once you start putting the smack down on your heli the 770 really shines.

Now I hear about this stuff! (as I just put on a 401)... oh well.

What's the price diff?

About $30

The 401 is very good and a standard that many gyros should at least meet, but when you start flying hard it begins to show it's flaws. The piro rate isn't consistent at all and expect tail blow outs on larger helis when flying backwards. It's by no means junk, their is simply newer stuff on the market that has taken it's place and holds a higher standard..
