I have recently finished the build on my 550, and wasnt comfortable with a few things, so I started searching for upgrades in those areas.
I ordered a Trex 600 thrust bearing tail & a set of 600 landing gear & skids.
But while researching, I wondered what other parts are compatible? I want to get a CNC head & tail, but I sure would love to use the torq tube option from a 600
Has anyone used any head/tail parts of other heli's with success?

From what I've found on the forum Trex600 booms have a diameter of 21.5 mm.
I asked an owner to measure theirs and they measured it as 21mm.
So you could use 600 tail servo mounts which are a little nicer than the gaui pieces.
I doubt the 600 TT parts would fit in the gaui frames. I had the same thought though when looking through all the 600 parts on readyheli.

Why don't you give her a whirl before upgrading to much - you might be happy with it the way it is. I have the Gaui CNC head - very good IMHO, & I have over 300 flights on the standard plastic Gaui tail.
Cheers

Its not that i am unhappy with the kit, the only part I am unhappy with is the tail grips, i think they are a little crappy... but I have ordered the 600 tail grips & gaui cnc tail housing so that should fix that problem.
I was just interested to see what other parts can be used on the 550????

I use the Rex 600 flybar much longer adds to stability in the hover
I use a raptor 30/50 tailblade hub and grips Much better design if you ask me although no thrust bearings
I use raptor Landing gear
I woul like to use a Kasama SRIMOK Head but the main shaft diameter is not the same
Although if your handy with a lathe there are a few ways you can make one fit.

I think Trex 500 flybar is much better on EP550

The whole point of using the 600 flyabr for me is the extra length it gives you and the added stability
I think the 500 flybar is shorther than the standard Hurricane Flybar so, to me, no beneifit

Isnt the 600's flybar 3mm and the 550's 4mm?
If thats the case I would need to change other stuff too, paddles & some changes in the head to fit the flybar?
Im probly wrong about the 3 or 4mm thing - so feel free to correct me ....

i'd have to say that the gaui xes cnc parts are very nicely machined, maybe even cleaner looking then align cnc stuff. just stay away from the off brand cnc stuff. lots of failures there.

Sorry Mate dont fully agree with you there,
for the most part the Gaui cnc stuff is of very good quality but check out the numerous reported failures of the Gaui cnc Tail blade grips and Tail Hub. Lots of problems with slack and sheared bolts. There are a few other manufactures making cheaper cnc parts for the Hurricane and you don't hear as many reports of parts failures with those suppliers, XMseller is one example.
You dont always get what you pay for.

XMseller is selling the same stuff that helidirect sells...all from cnchelicopter.com. the only part I have heard of failing from them was....the tail hub. just like on the Gaui hub..
either way, there are some real nice CNC parts from Gaui... there are some REAL nice parts from cnchelicopter just do some research before buying and you should be fine...

There is definitely something different between the quality of the Gaui metal head and the Gaui "cnc" tail. IMO the tail was made by someone else for Gaui using a manual lathe and mill, not cnc.. lol.
