So I get my Logo 500 to the field today, and about 10 seconds into flight, there's a couple large tail twitches, but I get it under control, and am able to land it holding some degree of left stick.

On the ground, it's clear that the tail is forcing its was so that the slider is all the way out. I figured I must have given it a bump on arming, so I unplug it, wait for 10 seconds or so, plug it in again. Over about one second, the slider is again all the way out. Fidding with the trim, about 8 clicks of left trim, and it mostly behaves, but there's no way I'm flying it.

I repeat the unplug/replug to no avail two more times. I figure I'll get home, and check the setup in the VStabi software.

Now that I'm home, there's no sign of the issue. I've got some squeaking in the rod where it goes through the guide, but no other issues, although I've now silicone oiled the rod there...

This bird has been my most reliable heli so far, until today. Of course now it looks just fine...

Any ideas?

first of all never use trim from your radio ever on vbar, your radio trims should all be zero, period. Are you running spektrum? If so rebind with zero throttle and all that jazz, some have indicated that if the binding process of the rx is later then the initialization process it can do weird things. I have not had it happen, but heard of it...

Oh, I know about the trim. I was just seeing if it made the problem appear to go away.

Yeah, it's an X9303, but to confuse me, it all appears working fine now. It acted like some weird gyro init problem, or perhaps like the trim was off (verified it was all 0), and now is gone. I'm just glad it was controllable in flight to get it down.

WEIRD!

So today, I take it back to the field, and the problem is back!

I give up, bring it home, and no problem...

FRUSTRATING.

Again, it's basically just locking with the hub all the way out. Not binding, but as soon as it's on, it goes all the way out. If I pull it back in with the rudder stick, it immediately goes back out over about one full second. Tried power cycling a number of times to no avail.

Help!

What is your RC deadband set at for the tail? Try increasing your deadband by 5 (gyro and RC) and see if that helps

Gyro deadband was 5. I've now made bank 1 10, and bank 2 15. I've left the RC deadband at 5.

I've had that from time to time, you can move the slider with the sticks but as soon as you let go it just slowly slides to full lock, I put it down to moving the heli whilst plugging in the batts- it may not be that but it just seemed to coincide.

It takes ages for the gyro to reset- probably a min or, plug in the batts too quick and you get the same effect, I've moved the tail central and then watched the slider move slowly across with no stick input. But after a min or so no problem, I think it's happened at least 3 time over the past 4 months. I've just put it down to a gyro not stabilizing at startup, been fine the last month or so. Hope it's not a problem with the unit and rather my maybe rough handling....
