I prefer the plain white variety cause you can paint it up to suit yourself

Yeah but the plain white ones are some kind of super-brittle plastic that will crack under the force of paint being sprayed onto it. The red ones are fiber-glass....

I bought the CF kit ages ago and was pretty disappointed that it came with the crappy white plastic canopy. I ended up buying an after-market fiber-glass canopy.

Yes mine started to develop some cracks, so I was told by Kgfly to reinforce the joints with elastoplast & CA. It's worked really well. My original plastic canopy has been crashed 8 times & I keep CA'ing the cracks!

The two I got with my hurris from ReadyHeli were the red and white FG and they are great. I destroyed one in a crash.. still have the other one on the z30 heli. The $12 white plastic ones are junk and i won't buy another, but you don't lose much when they crack to pieces in a crash.

I'm surprised that ReadyHeli and other places don't give away 2 canopies a year to customers that have spent over 3K with them and sell the FG canopies for $5 a pop to customers that have purchased over 2K from them, and sell them for $10 to folks that purchased 1K or a 550 kit from them. They would get so much more exposure by doing that and all canopies could have the ReadyHeli or company's logo on them. They should figure that almost every time someone orders a new one, they are ordering a lot more in other parts to repair the rest of their heli that would far outweigh the cost of a FG canopy. :dontknow

Yeah - I got the cheap plastic canopy with my CFS kit too. I managed over 50 flights out of it until I had the tail explode. We couldn't find all the pieces of the canopy to put it back together. I got one of the white FRP canopies and it's a lot nicer anyway.

It would be nice for those of us who spend $$$$s with ReadyHeli, if they would kick create specials on expendable items like that.

So what kits come with the nicer canopy? My ultra-low dollar Standard (w/ motor and ESC) kit came with the cheapy plastic canopy; pretty flimsy to say the least...

Once I reinforced all the trouble area with my patented "undie" repair it has held up really well. I have the red fg one also, but that seems even more brittle to me.

The cheapie takes plastic paint real well and for the money is a bargain.....my Eco 8 canopies were not made any better and were triple the price.

I have to say....this is one part of the heli I am pretty satified with, light, cheap, easy to paint,....although one person posted a picture of a really sharp canopy I think it was from quick....that looked super sharp...

I just don't like paying $50 for something that will crack and break to pieces in a crash.
