So a storm was on it's way in, of course came the winds along with it. So i wanted to test my skills a little and took the heli out for a fly.
I just wanted to ask a couple questions. While i was flying and the strong winds would pick up. It would hit the heli sides and make the tail jerk side 2 side. (like if it has to much gain) Is that normal in that kind of wind?
With all the wind i was hardly on the throttle, alot of what felt like a autorotation and just hovered when i cut the power off. I would have to cut into the wind to make it come down from a hover. I was on that battery forever. So im flying on a stock battery. What kind of battery can i get to have a longer flight time and alot of power for 3D

I had the same prob last week. Yes it means he gain is a little high.
Any battery that can supply 20c or more and 2100mah will be heaps of power for the belt. But make sure it will fit as the belts battery tray is only so big. Measure yours and see how big a battery you can get. Oh and remember you have to also balance the heli with the battery in it.

It's never tail wagged like that before in 0 to small amount of wind, just today. I'll lower the gain and see what happends, suppose to be stormy and windy this next two days.
Gotcha, any battery with 20c or more and 2100mah that fits in my battery tray. Any out there this is getting good reviews with the belt cp crowd?
Yeah, flying in the storm....sucks. The whole time, is correcting and evading. All the birds started to fly away from the storm... i scared...or we both..the bird and i, got scared guess he didn't see the heli... less then a feet and that bird would of got a blade strike to the face. It's did like an air brake and let off a few feathers and went around. Wish i would of go it on video. I have never jerked on the right stick so fast, and i bet the bird has never changed directions that fast either.

I set mine up last week n the wind and that is when I got some wag. It was happily flying arond without any waf and the gainright up. But first real windy day and the wag started.

You really need to keep your head speed up when your flying in the wind, If your not flying in Idle up then you have no head speed when you lower the collective so the tail rotor will be so slow that the gyro gain will be wrong. I think?
All other responses will be more sluggish as well

Gain is high.
I fly in very high winds all the time and with heli facing sideways into the wind the wind will simply move the heli sideways, tail remains perfectly straight.

Yeah, i noticed today when i would go about 50 ft in the air and come back down and quickly get it back in the 50ft mark again it would wag as if i gave it to much throttle/pitch to fast. Im just a noob, so i haven't hit the 3D switch yet. But i guess i'll have to try it out. Wish me luck.

If your worried about hitting the switch in the air you can do it on the ground when you have throttled up to just below lift off speed.
Idle up is not just for 3D, the heli is actually easier to fly in idle up, the only thing is that you always strip the main gear when you crash unless you flick it back and close the throttle just before you hit the ground:YeaBaby:. Also you wont have to pull the collective back so far to bring it down.
All the best with it mate:)

I will try that. I will get over my fear of crashing it and just do it. It's about time to rebuild it anyways. Been a while since i have crashed. That way i can recheck everything. Well if the hurricane doesn't hit tomorrow i will try it.
