The weather here has really sucked for flying lately. Really windy, hot and muggy and lots of thunderstorms.

However most evenings things quiet down at dusk and I usually fly then until the mosquitoes get too bad.

A couple days ago I happened to wake up just at sunrise (about 5am this time of year) and of course I immediately looked out the window to check the trees for wind velocity. It was dead calm. So I grabbed one of the Belts and headed for the garden.

It was great, calm, cool no bugs. So the last couple days I've been getting up early and getting a couple of packs flown before the neighbors are up!

My wife told me I'm completely nuts. I told her that I'm sure lots of guys get up early to fly.

So, how about it guys. Anyone else getting up early to enjoy the great flying, or is my wife right and I've "gone 'round the bend"?

Wiz, I have noticed that in the morning there is no wind. Only thing is, im 16 and a teen needs alot of sleep and I can't get up in the morning lol. I usually get up at about 11:45AM

Yes, mornings are my favorite time to fly in the summer, nice and cool. I usually get a few packs in on the way to work, around 6:30 am.

I'm thirty-fiveteen, and there are few things on this planet that can wake me up at 5 AM :D

It's a great time to fly if I haven't gone to sleep yet, though... but after 9 PM works just as well over here. You can keep flying well past midnight before it gets dark at this time of the year.

calm conditions and the lack of people that want to bother you in parks makes morning flying great.. i get in 2-3 packs quite easily.. then charge and get another 2-3 packs in after lunch.

Being a courier i get random breaks throughout the day.. So i get in quite alot of flying done.

In New York City, there aren't too many places to fly. So my best option (which has been working really well so far) is flying in Central Park at 6am. Yes, 6 AM. There are a few joggers, but no one bugs me and I don't have to worry about taking a kid's head off...especially my 2 year old's!!!

It has never entered my head that one of the Freaks would be flying in central park! But now every time I see it in a movie or on TV I'll think about your heli cruising thru it!
