I have an original 1001(did have a wooden servo tray). The only upgrades that have been made are the sideframes and the radio tray. They are G-10 side frames and I think they were produced by Bergen but I am not 100% sure on that.

I think my course of action is just going to be to fly it as is and upgrade parts as the old ones wear out or I use the dirt brakes.

With that said, is there anything I should go ahead and upgrade. IE: things that would make a huge difference.

Also when I do use the dirt brakes, what parts should I look to upgrade. Things I have been looking at ar the uni-ball clutch system, longer tailboom, rear servo mount and torque tube.

Last question, I promise. Does anyone have any clue as to how much longer MA is going to support it's older helicopters. To be honest I can't believe they still make parts for the 1001's I am glad they do, and hats off to the for it.

Ok, I lied, one more question, is it feasible to upgrade the 1001 to a fury or stratus. I am not really looking to do it all at one time, just a little here and there as I wreck/replace parts.

Thanks in advance.

Not really feasible to upgrade the 1001 you have to Fury or Stratus.
MA still supports the 1001, they still sell the 1001 kit.
It has the 31.5 inch tail boom with carbon torque tube. Uniball Clutch system, dual boom supports. Stacked aluminum frames.
As for as upgrades, I would just suggest fly the model as it as long as it is flying well.

Thanks for the help David. Sooner or later I would like to upgrade to the uni-ball clutch. It seems to be back ordered everywhere. Anyone know if this is a temporary thing, or isit going to be a while, if ever?

I will check. I may still have a uniball clutch that your looking for. You will then just have to order the uniball fan.
