How much is too much electronics
With all this electronic help ( carbsmart- gyros- collective managers, …..) will we end up with a few buttons on the TX 1: roll 2: flip Shift a: inverted shift b :reverse……
Where do we leave human skill ( adjusting, and flying)

what do you think? and how do you fly ....with brains and fingers only or are you waiting for all the electronic goodies mankind can come up with and preprogram your flight the night before and just watch the heli do its thing?

Even with all the goodies there is still a huge amount of skill required. I think the 'goodies' just ensure a safe and stable flight. The Gyro of course makes life easier but most importantly less frustrating and one thing less to worry about when flying.

I have always liked heli flying because its a mental chalenge. the more variables the more dificult.....thus more skilful you have to become to fly it

Take that heading hold off your heli and put a rate one on, or better yet. Do like the old school did back in the 70's - fly without a gyro.

I think the electronics are pushing the hobby forward rather than taking away the experience. Look at flybarless, stability control for AP work, the latest SMM gyro's and top end servo's like JR8717.

The market will decide what is and what isn't a success. If people want it they will buy it otherwise it'll be a forgotten thing of the past.

Make way for change I say and embrace that what pushes the hobby forward.

There is NO skill required if you have Helicommand setup properly, let go of the sticks and it hovers its self....where's the skill in that?
Gyro is all I need, oh and I have a governor too lol ;)

The good thing is that you can make the hobby as challenging as you want. Some people want a cadillac on cruise control, and they can. Others want an F1 race car. You can decide how challenged you will be....at a cost of course.

yeah well the gyro and govenor are the "cruise control", Helicommand is total cpu control of your heli, how boring is that, where the hell is the skill if you can let go of the sticks and it flies its self? even cars can not do that lol :)

How stupid to marval at someones great heli control only to find out a pc is flying it really, takes away the whole idea of RC flying imho :(

glad to say no one at our club is cheating in such a way lol ;)

I voted for all of them because all of them present different challenges and levels of enjoyment. I could find any of them interesting in their own way.

If you are in a situation where there is no one to help you then heli stabilization systems are a great help and confidence builder and not cheating!

If you really like a challenge then try sex standing in a hammock.

All depends in your way of flying....

If you are a guy who wants to fly with a backup, I do not see any problem using a helicommand for example, specially if you are flying a heli with a 1,000 fuselage on it!!!!!!

P.S. I personally do not use one because I like the challenge of helis, hehe but I would some day I guess....
