Anybody know how to pull it apart.
As you might know have sold the Belt but whe it arrived in Melbourne the motor has jammed.
Any Ideas?
I am trying to help him get it up and running.
Have read a post somewhere about one of the magnets becoming dislodged, what do you think?
I think he needs to pull it apart and see what is jamming it but havent the first idea where to start, I am a bit hands on and I dont have one here to try it.
If anyone has a photo diary of how to do it, I would be very grateful.

I remember the post about a dislodged magnet too, but I don't know where or when I saw it. However it don't think it contained sufficient detail with regard to disassembly. I have a vague recollection that whoever it was, just poked the magnet back into position. Unfortunately I cannot offer you any more than this as my motor has never been off my heli for more than a few minutes as I swapped it from one destroyed frame to another. ;)

Thats the post I'm talking about.
It was a real easy fix and I'm hoping that this will be the same. To jam the motor I cant think of anyting else that would do this. can you?

Not sure, I have just been searching for you, but cannot come up with what you want. I did come across one post on Heliguy asking for help on a very similar issue. ;) Is that allowed???
One guy I found had damaged his bearing, by hitting the shaft too hard trying to remove the pinion, but his still turned, it was not jammed just not spinning freely.
EDIT: Yes I can think of something, mine was jammed once, but it was an even easier fix. A small screw had dropped inside and was clinging to one of the magnets. Visual inspection revealed the culprit and I simply removed it with tweezers.

I take it you have seen the contribution now from RhipKord now, but for the benefit of this thread, here is the cross reference.

Later in the thread though, he says that it had moved again, so if this is the problem it will need gluing back in place as suggested by c5 in the same thread. This unfortunately brings us back to disassembly. :(

No I hadn't but thanks for looking.
Have now seen it and sent him the post.
Thanks Sutty
Still looking for answers on how to pull the motor apart though......

If it is the stock motor and pinion :
Heat the pinion with a small blowtorch (or other heatsource), remove pinion with pliers, this is because the pinion is CA'ed to the shaft.
The motor can be disassembled very easy because it is held together by magnetic force only, just pull the outer rotor out if the bearings.

Thanks Ber
I though it was something like that.
Cheers

Yea its really easy you gotta just pull the outer part away from the base of the motor. The reason why you need to remove the pinion gear is because the shaft is attached to the outed case at the top.
I tried taking the motor apart before but I failed because I couldn't get the pinion off lol.

He got it sorted thanks for all your help.
You will never believe what the problem was.
A staple had gotten into the motor during transit.
I must have missed it in the box.:DOH Anyway he is up and flying now.
Now I know how to fix a motor I dont own anymore:roll:

I did guess that. I said that in an edit to one of my posts higher up. Well I didn't say a staple but I did say a little screw did the same to me. Either way, I'm pleased it is sorted.

Sutty, I also dropped a screw in the motor. It was the front cyclic linkage screw in the swashplate that feel into it lol.
