Well after static ruining my first HV 85 after 15 flights (will not arm or connect to castle link), I decided to try the Graphite 33 that everyone is talking about. I covered the entire outside of the belt with a q-tip by painting it on and also installed some metal 3 x 8 bearings for the idler pulley. I removed the HV 85 from my Razor and changed some of the settings with the castle link then I installed it on the Logo 600 and went out to fly 3 batteries. I flew the heli 3 times while being careful to watch for any static hits or for my motor to shut off like it did before- no problems. Maybe the Graphite 33 is working Im thinking?

So today, the day after flying the machine 3 times I try to connect the HV 85 to the castle link and no dice!
I plugged in the 3-wire connector first then the battery and nothing. Tried the new software- Still nothing. Tried another ESC and connected instantly. I am at my witts end! I have heard of static corrupting programming?

So I am at the point that I either sell the Logo 600 or install my PowerJazz I have sitting around, which I have avoided because I think it is overkill for a .50 sized electric. I was going to install it on my Ion-x2 or Maxi Joker 2. Are kontronic ESC's really immune to static or is that just what people in high humidity environments think?

ARGHHHHH!!!

I really wonder what Matt Botos is using in his because I know that he has flown his Logo's all over even here in Colorado. I have been unable to find his setup.

Are you sure it's ESD hits? Yes, i have also heard that the Jazz's are ESD shielded and i've been successfully running one out here in dry California for around 100 flights with no issues other than the occassional overtemp since I haven't installed a heatsink yet.

I am pretty sure that it is ESD based on my history and setup. I really cant prove it but everything else is testing normal. I have a Power Jazz that I could install but it seems like overkill. So I guess the only other option is a 55-10-32 with a heatsink? I thought some were still overheating with the heatsink too.

well I am as dry as a desert and no issues here, seriously. I have one machine that has a CC85HV as well, no issues as of yet with it either "crosses fingers and touches wood". :D

Dang, Nate, sorry to hear that!

All I can say is I'm flying in the same environment you are, and I've had no (Jazz) issues. They just keep flying! Well, unless you count the heat issues I've had with the Neu 1912 on my Jazz 55-10-32... Tango gets hot itself, but the Jazz is happy now.

Just got a Jive ordered for my L600, but I'm really waiting to hear from OICU812 on how it performs for him ;)

Hey John,

Have you put a heatsink on you 55-10?

Wonder how the Jive will turn out?

dude, you have a PJ "lying" about, i mean, why spend all that money and not use it? so what if its a little overkill, i installed mine and never looked back, it is the most awesome ESC out there, static immune, never thermals, no sparks, never overload it.

Just install it and get on with it, you will regret ever selling that heli :)

Just installed the connectors, plan on programming and testing tommorow. The Power Jazz is huge and seems really robust. I wonder if it is the plastic case that helps prevent static issues?

Funny Ian, my buddy was telling me the same thing.. "Well if its just sitting there it isnt doing anything for you!" :)
