Today I installed the T-Rex 600 Landing Gear & the thrust bearing tail rotor.

I figured I would post pics so those that are considering either can check it out..
The original landing gear is sitting underneath for comparison...

The CNC tail box should be here tomorrow, with the CNC elevator arms

The last pic is just coz im proud :YeaBaby:

the landing gear is huge isn't it :D who needs training gear once you put the 600 struts under the Hurri

The gear didnt look too big to me, until I stuck the Gaui gear under there....

Shortening the skids makes them seem a little less over-sized.

JaggedEdge - is that the Gaui frame or something else? I like the battery setup..

but the longer skids look good on the hurri... the stock stuff is to small

Those are the Custom Heli Parts frames (http://www.readyheli.com/Custom_Heli_Parts_Hurricane_550_Carbon_Fiber_Frame _p/chp-nmh550.htm) from Readyheli. I wanted to run a single 6s pack and did not like the servo setup on the stock 550. Snagged em up when they were in stock.

:dontknow Mine are the 600 skids and gear. The 600 frame is longer than the 550. When you mount the 600 gear on the 550 frames the distance between the gear is shorter causing the skids to stick out really far on either end.

I think it's a matter of taste, butyour the first person I have ever heard that cut down the skids....but they look good too..

I think the trex 600 gear looks :clappp...I would'nt take 1 mm off of mine.....I honestly wondered where the Gaui engineers had their heads...the day they designed the gear...AND that stupind little horz tail fin...what a joke.

I really like the 550 but lots of the trex stuf either looks or works much better.

I'm just glad we have the options we have to swap parts nad make a good heli even better......:banana:Bang

Yes, to each his own.. I went for the increase width of the 600 skids, not more length. More length, imo, would be more to get them caught on when landing.

Proportionally my 600 skids are the same length as my rex450 skids.

ayeh... I think yours look good....and besides....we really don't land on the front or the back anyway......if your in that much of a fwd or aft postion....you are in lots of trouble....

you mean I'm not supposed to bring the hurri in at full speed and slide to a stop? fine... take my fun away

The original landing gear and skids are just right for me. You just need to be a little bit careful on landing but I have never tipped my Hurricane over in almost 250 flights. The T-Rex 600 landing gear is kinda wide even for the 600 :)

I love the "low rider" look of my souped up Hurricane, at 2300 rpm headspeed, it out flew my 6S TRex 600 in every maneuver :)

Sorry if I came across as defensive. Wasn't intended.

Don't worry over here....if they don't like it they can go over to the RCG 3120 post thread.....what a joke.....how the heck can you ever get any real info or feed back in one 3000 + thread :dontknow:dontknow:arggg::arggg:

HF is the best for the 550....can get any help you need....and find an answer to almost... any question......

And we let Male models, and old farts participate....:happyd:happyd

I like the wider stance on the T-Rex 600 skids on my Gaui 550, especially nice in the mid to tall grass I end up flying in at the local park. I do like the looks of the lower stance and I'm sure at some point I'll give the stock setup a shot as I have a few sets of them floating around now, but for the time being I like the MONSTER 600 setup.

Happy Flying!

The Trex tail is bigger than the Gaui, so with the Trex landing gear does it raise it enough to prevent the tail from hitting the ground?

yep... sure does

Good point. I'm using TREX600 vertical stabilizer fin. Without the taller gear that wouldn't be possible.

Hi Guys,

Is the T600 tail assembly a direct replacement for the 550 tail like the E620 that Finless shows in the video?

Also, I can't find a complete E620 tail assembly anywhere. I can find the hub and tail grips minus the bearing but not the whole assembly. :arggg:

Anyone have an idea where I can get it?

Thanks, George

I was browsing Helidirect website for T-600 upgrade parts, I saw a Microheli CNC tail grips for $35 and a Helidirect CNC tail grips for $25. Both have thrust bearings. I wished I saw these before purchasing the Kasama tail grips for the T-600 for $60.

Noooooooooooooooooo... be glad you didn't get them.. they have been proven to fail in flight. the CNChelicopter (the ones you mentioned come from cnchelicopter) tail grips and hub are BAD. the CNC tail case is good.. but stay away from the hub and grips.

My 600 tail grips and hub should be here today. The Helidirect tail case is a very nice unit.
You are using the 600 tail grips and hub with the 550 case/tail shaft?

If you don't want to go quite as wide as the "curvy" T600 skids you can use the "triangular / 3D" skids - they are a bit narrower. I have one 550 on each - I'll try and post a piccie at the weekend (away tonight)
