Hi, I need some advise for my final setup. Here is something in my mind:
Motor: Hacker A40 10L Electric Turbine 8 poles
ESC: Jazz 55-10-32
Blade: 550 size
Gyro: 401
Battery: 6S 4000mah lipo
Pinion: Any recommendation? How about 15T pinion + 0.7 mod main gear?
Cyclic servos: Futaba s9452 (is this ok?)
Tail servo: Futaba s9254
BEC: do I need one?
There are couple of questions I would like to know:
1. I am not into hard 3D, but I do loop, side tic toc and piro flip all the time. If I run L500 with 6S 4000 Lipo, what's the fly time I should expect from the above setup?
2. Does the L500 3D kit comes with any pinion?
3. If I go for 550 blade, do I have to do any mod to my L500 (eg. longer boom?)
Thanks in advance!
you got the right motor installed, but really, go for the 80-6-18 instead of the 55.
Also go for a much larger battery, FlightPower evo25 5000 or evolite 5350 6s.
only mod to make it a 550 machine is the extra hard dampners :)

I may try 10s a123 later, so would 55-10-32 a better choice? I head that 80-6-18 could get quite hot, is that true or it's normal for jazz esc? thanks!
my 80-6-18 stays fine in flight. all ESCs will get warm, the kontroniks are no exception.
6s is more than enough on this heli, any more is just weight for no benefit

Pinion is good choice, servos i would maybe get something faster, get a bigger lipo or expect shorter life and 4 min flight.

This is a very similar setup to mine. I get four and a half minute flights, but I'm flybarless. The 9452's are great servos. If I had the budget then I'd be throwing bigger batteries at mine.

Do you have any thermal problem with your Jazz 55? I was told that I should go for Jazz 80 if I run 6s only. what do you think? thanks!

A Jazz 80 with 6S is the most popular configuration. Most people on this board with a L500 run 6S with probably 60%+ running the Jazz 80. If you get the right combination of pinion and TC setting for desired head speed, the Jazz should run in the 125-135F range which is good. The Hacker A40-10L ET will probably be the best motor out there.

Jazz 80-6-18 and if you can afford it the Kontronik Jive 100+LV would be the ultimate for it for sure.

Last night when I was charging my packs I discovered that my second 6S pack was as 25.18V. That's odd I thought, and stuck the other one on the charger only to discover it sitting at 20V. I must have been distracted and taken the first pack out and then put it straight back in the machine!
No wonder it shutdown 3 minutes into the flight!
I hope the pack isn't permanently damaged, but your guess is as good as mine.

20V is not too bad, it will be ok

20V resting, I'll bet it was lower than 18V under load.
