When flying in the afternoon in temps exceeding 90* F (32* C), the power to the motor suddenly cut to zero in mid-flight. Could this be heat-related? My first thought is that the ESC overheated. I had been flying for about 5 minutes. I unplugged the battery, allowed everything to cool, and flew it again for a couple minutes to make sure everything was working properly. There seems to be no permanent damage, and the helicopter was able to safely land after the loss of power.

If you’re flying with the stock ESC it will cut to 50% power when the mosfet temperatures reach 95 Deg C. Read the thread call "Sudden Drop in Power" and this should give you plenty of information.
