I think I am going to take the plunge here and get a swift. I have a Hurricane 550 and love that, but I am looking for a replacement for my Trex 450 and want something the size of my hurricane. Trex 500/600 is out due to battery costs.

Can someone recommend or point me in the right direction to the following:

I have the following:
2x3s 3000mah 20C protek packs
2x3s 4000mah 10C True RC packs

What Motor and esc and bec should I get. I am looking for around 8 mins of sport flying (figure 8's, hovering and an occasional loop- when I have a change of underwear on hand)

Also, where is everyone getting parts/kits from.

thanks

For your application you will want a motor with a relatively low KV rating (800 or so) and mach it to a 9T pinion so that your rotor speed will be relatively low (1600 or so). This will give you a low wattage demand (low amp draw on your battery packs which are marginal for this application.

A Swift, operated at these rotor speeds, requirs about 480 watts or so. Hooking your packs in series, would mean you would have about 20 volts under load. 480 watts/20 volts means your current draw would be only about 24 amps, So any reasonale 45A or 55A ESC should do the job.

so what would the recommendation be to have a bird with decent power and flight times.
Motor
Speed Control
BEC
Batteries.

Should I go with a combo from heli-world.com

Here is the combo I would recommend, because it can easily be configured from mild to wild using 4 or 5 or 6 cell packs and various different pinions.

Personally I prefer using a seperate Radio battery pack as the extra weight does not effect the Swift very much due to its' larger size, and the extra weight up front helps with the CofG.
