I've gotten pretty good at hovering, so I have started transitioning into forward flight and slight turns. A few days ago I had my helo up about 12' and decided to do a pirouette. That was pretty easy. Just had to compensate for the redirection of power from the main rotor to the tail...no problem. Last night I decided to go out and get one flight in before I had to run to the store. First half of the battery was spent practicing normal hovering stuff, then I started doing some pirouettes and working on some forward flight/slight turns. I came out of a slight turn to the left at a decent rate of speed. The helo started drifting left, nose down, and I lost it. Probably about a 25 degree nose down. Now I get to buy some new controlling rods, tail boom, and blades. Too much fun!

We've all been there! :)
After I stuff it in, I like to go on the sim and try to recreate what I did that caused the crash. Even if I can't redo it on the sim, it often helps me figure out just what went wrong.

I hear ya!
I am at about the same skill level as you are, perhaps 2-3 charges further.
About a week ago I chrased for the first time after thinking: "Just one more minute"
Needless to say, I should have stoped! :...:
Today I flew for the first time after the crash. It was a bit nervous, I must admit.
But I changed the main shaft to align one and the main gear to the blade 400 main gear (direct swap) and it flew great, more quiet and sensitive than before. But I chrased half way through the battery  just have to change one rotorblade!
I guess we just have to keep on hacking!

I also ride Motocross. The is one thing that I have learned never to say is "Just one more lap/jump/etc" I have crashed a few times when I have done that. I never say it anymore. If I even think it then I tell myself that I am going to hit it a couple more times.

:YeaBaby:
exactly!
If I could give a rookie one advise it would be just that!
-If you ever even think: "Just one more try" then QUIT!
If I could only get that into My head it would be awesome!

Was flying and heard the 1 min beep for the battery, thought I would 'just' try idle up before it goes - crashed with 14 seconds to go on timer:thumbdown:
So....instead of backyard flying/testing 3 times a night, I just wait to go to the park - the number of crashes I have is now minimal!
