I never owned a 90 and I always wanted to have one. I did research about 90 size and noticed people always mention about the crashing cost ($400-$600) and this scared me frome getting a 90 size. My friend and I crashed our T rex 600N couple of times and on average cost to get it back in the air from $120-$200 including blades)

Is it really cost $400-$600 per average crash? Parts for 90 size are not that more expensive than 50, so why a 90 cost a lot more to fix?

if you look at the cost of spares for most 90 size helis repairs will be expensive, one big plus of the Trex 700 is that spares prices are only a little more than the 600 so it should cost a little more than the 600 but lots less than other 90's to repair.

Blades will always be expensive but the main cost of a 90 over a 50 at the moment is the cost of fuel. A 90 engine gets through nitro fuel like you wouldn't believe, I get around 7 flights per gallon flying my Fury Extreme.

I fly both 90 and 50 size birds and the 90 is more to fix ... however, if the birds are similarly outfitted the difference in crash cost may not be the big difference you think. If you are using Radix blades for example on main, paddles and tail rotors you can expect to pay $190 for these for a 90 and $155 for a 50. Obviously using less expensive paddles and tail rotors helps here but I love the way the Radix package works together. Muffler can be big cost as the Hatori SB-18 runs for $179 as opposed to the 50 sized version for $115. If you can find the MP5 then these costs will be lower. Also, I run 8717's and GV-1 on my 90 and 50's so no cost difference there either. Main shafts, spindles, and bearings aren't too expensive either way but if you ruin the metal blade grips on the Raptor 90se then get ready to shell out $150 to replace with TT parts so the 50 gets the nod there. Also, wrap your receiver in foam and it is much more likely to survive a crash and it took me several times before I accepted that. Hope that helps and good luck!
