I helped my friend rebuild his Belt and upgrade to a HH gyro. I had my helicopter on the table to help insure his was rebuild correctly. But no matter what we tried, the tail could not generate enough thrust to keep the helicopter from spinning. We tried reversing the gyro, reversing the tx, increasing and decreasing tension on the belt, trying different trim settings, rebuilding the tail numerous times, and comparing the setup to mine. My poor friend hasn't been able to get his to fly the few months. I think he was beginning to think these things just plain don't work. I took mine up for him so he can see that when properly setup they can fly. We're both out of ideas. We'll take it to a hobby store tomorrow. Any ideas guys?

This is probably too obvious but you mention nothing about adjusting the gain in rate or HH.

Have you tried adjusting the pitch of the tail blades?

It's pretty basic, but are you sure the tail rotor is turning the right direction?

Looking at the top of the heli, the main blades should turn clockwise and the tail rotor should rotate toward the back of the heli.

There's a vid about this by Dierwolf in the stickies above.

I'm with Jack I think the pitch must be wrong.

Also are you sure the gyro is actually working, you can check by manually yawing the heli and seeing if the tail servo tries to correct ( best disconnect the motor)

The problem is somewhat solved. Took his helicopter up to the local hobby store and had them take a look at it. After 20 minutes of minor adjustments with the position of the tail servo, the gyro, and the belt tension, there was enough thrust to keep the helicopter from doing circles. I took his helicopter for a test flight and it just does not feel stable. I played around with it for a bit, but had to get going. He has yet to get any real flight time on his helicopter (has only managed to crash it 4 times), and I fear that the helicopter is still too unstable. The tail was not holding nearly as well as it should.

Check to see if the blade holders are not backwards , it matters on the cp.

Make sure the ball-links are on the leading edge side of the blades. Look at the manual pictures if needed.
