I'm another newbie in the RC Heli's. Have a Blade CP+ and have a few questions. When checking the movement of the blades while heli is on a bench, I notice that the blades do not pitch unless I give it throttle. Is that the correct action? Also where do the pitch control arms attach to, Upper Swashplate to Main Blade Grip, or main Blade Grip to Paddle Control Frame? Using the Blade CP+ for practice before upgrading to either a Blade 400 or another larger Electric heli. Don't think the snowbirds will care much for the noise of a gasser in the RV resort where I reside and too cheap (poor) to drive 20+ miles to the closest RC flight park or join the AMA.

There are some good pics of the head and links starting on p.19 of the manual, available for download here:

As for the pitch issue you describe, you are correct. You won't see major pitch changes on your blades unless you move the throttle stick. You've got a collective pitch heli, and the collective pitch (both blades increase or decrease pitch simultaneously) is mixed into the throttle output.
If the blades are held perpendicular to the centerline of the heli, you will see pitch changes as you move the aileron sitck, and if they are parallel to the centerline, you will see changes when moving the elevator.
