Can an O.S. 61 be used in a Raptor 50? And if so, is that smart to do?

The short answer is no to both questions. I suppose it is possible to do if you are a machinist but IMHO not a smart thing to do. The long answer is that a larger engine has already been crammed into a helicopter that is basically a thirty size machine. I would think that the extra stresses of a sixty engine would place unsafe stresses on parts that were designed for a thirty size helicopter. Besides, a sixty won't fit without a lot of modification.

Most of us have sixty engines just sitting around with nothing to do. I'm using my sixty for a paper weight. In my opinion a more appropriate use than putting it in a fifty (thirty) size machine.

Saying all this and knowing the mind-set of many of my fellow hobbyist, I would bet that it's been done.

I personally don't recommend it and think it would be dangerous.
But take a look at the above links
